Llegó la lluvia a mi ciudad.

Luego de varias jornadas de intensas lluvias en Cuba, principalmente en el Oriente del país dónde por cierto han sido bastante fuertes causando algunos daños materiales, llegó por primera vez a mi ciudad, Sancti Spíritus. En estos días solo había caído una llovizna leve a pesar de los pronósticos que anunciaba mucha agua.

Durante la madrugada se destapó a llover con mucha fuerza como si de una pluma abierta se tratara y no se pudiera cerrar. Llegó el punto que me tuve que levantar preocupado por que en otras ocasiones se me estancaban los tragantes por el churre que se acumulaba y entraba el agua para la casa, pero todo estaba bien por suerte.

Sobre las 7 AM caía una pequeña llovizna por lo cual decidimos mi mujer y yo no mandar a los niños a la escuela ni al "cuido". Salí a resolver unos asuntos con rumbo al centro de la ciudad y al pasar sobre uno de los puentes que cruzan el río Yayabo vi como este estaba crecido.

Como es tradicional los espirituanos se reunían encima de los puentes para observar la majestuosidad del río Yayabo correr con toda su fuerza. Esto sucede muy pocas veces solo cuando cae un gran aguacero como el de la madrugada anterior, aproximadamente hace un año no crecía como esta vez.

The ravine that passes behind the house grew and the nearby little hole was filled. Around 7 AM a little drizzle was falling, which is why my wife and I decided not to send the children to school or to "care." I went out to solve some business towards the center of the city and when I passed over one of the bridges that cross the Yayabo River I saw how it was swollen.

As is traditional, the people of Sancti Spíritus would gather on top of the bridges to observe the majesty of the Yayabo River running with all its might. This happens very rarely, only when a heavy downpour falls like the one from the previous morning, about a year ago it didn't grow like this time.

Al regresar a la casa saqué el triciclo para vender un poco, al momento tuve que resguardarme en un portal de una vecina debido a que comenzó a llover fuerte nuevamente. Pasaba la gente en sus bicicletas lo más rápido posible para llegar a sus casas o lugares de destino, los carros y motores salpicaban las aceras con el agua que cubría toda la carretera.

Al mediodía el agua calmó, incluso salió el sol, yo almorcé y me recosté un rato en la cama. Sobre las 3 volví a salir para vender un rato por la tarde y como mismo en la mañana comencé a llover como si mi venta llamara el agua. En la tarde los niños del barrio aprovecharon que no había tormenta eléctrica y con el permiso de sus padres se bañaron en el aguacero. Esto me recordó mis tiempos de niñez cuando yo hacía lo mismo, jugar debajo del aguacero y bañarnos en los grandes chorros que caían de las casas.

Around 3 o'clock I went out again to sell for a while in the afternoon and just like that in the morning it started to rain as if my sale called water. In the afternoon the children of the neighborhood took advantage of the fact that there was no electrical storm and with the permission of their parents they bathed in the downpour. This reminded me of my childhood when I used to do the same thing, playing under the downpour and bathing in the great streams that fell from the houses.

Personalmente estos días a mi me gustan,ver la lluvia caer me da una paz y tranquilidad acogedora. Las plantas y el césped se veían más hermosas, con un verde de gala muy oriundas y orgullosas. Las ranas cantaban agradecidas porque la lluvia había volvido a mi ciudad.
