A Cleanplanet-Walk up to the Hill and a Slide down to Graz (GER/ENG)
Hallo liebe Hivians,
wie bereits bei der letztjährigen @buzzparty in der schönen Hansestadt Hamburg, gab es auch in diesem Jahr wieder einen Cleanup-Walk bei den Hive Creator Days in Graz.
As at last year's @buzzparty in the beautiful Hanseatic city of Hamburg, there was once again a cleanup walk at the Hive Creator Days in Graz this year.
Den Cleanplanet-Gedanken hatte @Tibfox am Tag zuvor bereits in einem Vortrag vorgestellt. Es geht darum, den von vielen unachtsam hinterlassenen Müll aufzusammeln und dem Entsorgungs- oder Recyclingsystem zuzuführen.
Aus meiner Sicht gehört es auch dazu, darauf zu achten, den Müll nicht erst zu produzieren. Zum Beispiel durch den Kauf unverpackter Waren. Für den Kauf von Obst und Gemüse haben wir immer entsprechende Einkaufsnetze im Auto und nehmen diese zum Einkauf mit und verzichten so auf die im Laden ausliegenden Plastik- oder Papiertüten.
Heute geht es aber um den Cleanplanet-Walk den wir zusammen in Graz unternommen haben.
@Tibfox had already introduced the Cleanplanet idea in a presentation the day before. It's about collecting the garbage that many people carelessly leave behind and handing it over to the disposal or recycling system.
In my view, this also includes making sure that we don't produce waste in the first place. For example, by buying unpackaged goods. When we buy fruit and vegetables, we always have appropriate shopping bags in the car and take them with us when we go shopping.
Today, however, we are talking about the Clean Planet Walk that we did together in Graz.
Am Samstag-Vormittag um ca. 10 Uhr haben wir uns am "Spacelend" getroffen und sind von dort aus losgelaufen. Der diesjährige Weg war etwas beschwerlicher als letztes Jahr. Ging es im letzten Jahr noch entlang des Elbufers ziemlich eben, so mussten in diesem Jahr zusätzlich ca. 125 Höhenmeter bewältigt werden um den Schloßberg zu erklimmen.
We met at the “Spacelend” at around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and set off from there. This year's route was a little more difficult than last year. Last year it was fairly flat along the shore of the Elbe, but this year we had to climb an additional 125 meters in altitude to climb the Schloßberg.
Vor dem Anstieg teilten wir uns in Gruppen auf. Jede Gruppe bekam ein paar Krallen zum aufsammeln des Mülls, Handschuhe und einen Müllsack den es zu befüllen gab. Für die Gruppen, die den meisten Müll gesammelt haben wurden Preise ausgelobt.
Enttäuschend aber auch erfreulich zugleich gab es gar nicht viel Müll entlang des Weges aufzusammeln. @reiseamateur berichtete uns zwar bereits im Vorfeld, das es ein paar Wochen zuvor bereits eine Aufräumaktion in Graz gegeben hat, aber die Grazer scheinen auch sonst etwas sorgsamer mit ihrer Stadt umzugehen.
Denn, wenn es bei uns zuhause eine Müllsammelaktion gibt, so ist bereits manchmal nach ein paar Tagen schon nichts mehr davon zusehen und hier und da findet man immer mal wieder ein bisschen Müll.
Before the climb, we split into groups. Each group was given a pair of claws to pick up the garbage, gloves and a garbage bag to fill. Prizes were awarded to the groups that collected the most garbage.
Disappointingly, but also pleasingly, there wasn't much garbage to pick up along the way. Although @reiseamateur told us in advance that there had already been a clean-up campaign in Graz a few weeks earlier, the people of Graz seem to be a little more careful with their city.
Because when there's a garbage collection campaign in our city, after a few days you can find a bit of garbage in the street again.
Trotzdem marschierten wir los und haben den bislang übersehenen Müll aufgesammelt, auch jeden Kronkorken.
Nevertheless, we marched off and collected the garbage that others had overlooked so far, including every bottle cap.
Am Gipfel des Schloßbergs und dem Uhrenturm angekommen wurden wir mit einer Aussicht über Graz belohnt.
Once we reached the top of the Schloßberg and the clock tower, we were rewarded with a view over Graz.
Im Park gibt es auch Kunst zu entdecken. Dieses Kunstwerk haben wir vor Ort versucht zu entschlüsseln. Erst später habe ich herausgefunden, das hinter diesem Kunstwerk tatsächlich eine Verschlüsselung steckt.
There is also art to discover in the park. We tried to decipher this work of art on site. It was only later that I found out that there was actually a code behind this work of art.
Während @Quekery und ich beim entschlüsseln der Scheibe wertvolle Zeit vergeudeten, wurde diese Zeit von anderen engagierten Hivians für das weitere Müll sammeln genutzt und diesen Vorsprung konnten wir leider nicht mehr einholen.
While @Quekery and I wasted valuable time deciphering the disk, other engaged Hivians used this time to continue collecting garbage and unfortunately we couldn't catch up.

Auf dem Fotos ist es schwer zu erkennen. Den Müll sammelten wir (@quekery @themyscira @llunasoul @honeydue @growandbow and me) am 03.05.2025. Gewonnen haben aber leider andere. Herzlichen Glückwunsch noch einmal an alle Gewinner!

Nach dem Cleanplanet-Walk haben wir gemeinsam im Biergarten des Schlossberg-Restaurants zu Mittag gegessen, bevor es dann wieder bergab ging.
After the Clean Planet Walk, we had lunch together in the beer garden of the Schlossberg restaurant before heading back downhill.
Der Weg bergauf zum Uhrenturm nahm eine längere Zeit in Anspruch. Der Weg hinunter dauerte jedoch nur exakt 34.0 Sekunden. Oben auf dem Schlossberg gibt es die Schlossbergrutsche. Diese Rutsche ist 64m Hoch und hat eine Länge von 175m. Der Preis für diesen Rutschspaß betrug € 6,50 und das war es auf jeden Fall wert. Solltet ihr einmal in Graz sein, so empfehle ich euch die Rutsche einmal auszuprobieren und meine Zeit (34.0 Sekunden) zu schlagen.
The way up to the clock tower took a long time. The way down, however, only took exactly 34.0 seconds. At the top of the Schlossberg is the Schlossbergrutsche. This slide is 64m high and 175m long. The price for this slide was € 6.50 and it was definitely worth it. If you are ever in Graz, I recommend you try out the slide and beat my time (34.0 seconds).

Naja habe heute aus der Blumenerde in meinen Eimern einiges an Plastik rausgefischt 🤮 ist sicherlich noch einiges drin, aber morgen kommen endlich meine Tomatenpflanzen rein.

Saturday Clean Planet was a great activity, we loved it. Oh, we missed the slide thingy, but we took the cable car, which was also fun 😃
I was really thinking about climbing up the stairs and use the Cablecar down. But in the end i had a cup of coffee with the other guys.
Hey I really agree with you about drawing smart conclusions from this walk, I find it super important to avoid buying packaged food and always have some fabric shopping bag at hand. Thanks for bringing more value to this idea and I hope everyone who reads this post understands the importance of what you say, these small changes bring a lot to take care of our planet.
As for the route, come on! someone who does crossfit can not find this so challenging hahaha although compared to last year if it was more complex but if I tell you the truth I felt the route short xD wow I did not realize the riddle of the disk artwork hahaha good thing your photos document how concentrated I was looking for garbage among the tourists who looked at me funny hahahaha.
The slide was definitely the best of all, I was left wanting to repeat and I couldn't make as good a time as you! So congratulations for that!
No, to me it wasn´t challenging. But there were a few other guys who needed a rest or two. Yes, the route was shorter than the one last year. So, if there will be a buzzparty next year it is up to you to chose the route.
Was für ein super Post über diese tolle Community-Aktion :) Ich war richtig happy, dass so viele Leute so engagiert mit gemacht haben und wir alle so ne Menge Spaß hatten. Genau das, was ich mir vorgestellt hatte ^^
