Beauties in Cumaná || Bellezas en Cumaná
Although all my youth was closely linked to the eastern part of the country, I had lost the connection with that region, and the last time I was there was about 10 years ago, an occasion when I went with my children.
For a recent activity we did in the city of Cumaná, in Sucre state, Venezuela, I had to return to that part of the country, and the experience was simply beautiful.
In the first place, because of the extraordinary amount of memories that surfaced in me, ranging from the Boca de Uchire area, all the way to the city of Cumaná itself, passing through Barcelona, Lecherías, Puerto La Cruz, Guanta, Santa Fe, Arapito, and Playa Colorada. Each place holds its own space in my memory and heart.
Aunque toda mi juventud estuvo muy vinculada al oriente del país, había perdido la conexión con esa región y la última vez que estuve fue hace cerca de 10 años, oportunidad en la que fui con mis hijos.
Para una actividad que hicimos recientemente en la ciudad de Cumaná, en el estado Sucre de Venezuela, me tocó volver a esa parte del país y la experiencia fue simplemente hermosa.
En primer lugar por la cantidad de recuerdos extraordinarios que afloraron en mí, que iban desde la zona de Boca de Uchire, hasta la propia ciudad de Cumaná, pasando por Barcelona, Lecherías, Puerto La Cruz, Guanta, Santa Fe, Arapito y Playa Colorada. Cada lugar con su espacio en la memoria y el corazón.

Almost all my activity took place in the Historic Center of Cumaná, that is, the colonial zone, which is, in turn, the most touristy area. The seat of the Regional Government is also located there, including both the current headquarters of the Governor's Office and the old Government Palace.
It is an extremely picturesque area of great beauty. One of the most striking attractions, which are the murals, I did not include in this post, as they deserve their own space, which I will publish soon.
In this central zone is where the Casa Ramos Sucre is located, which was where we held our 'hiver' meet-up. A wonderful cultural center that is the epicenter of an entire literary movement.
In addition to the colonial architecture, there are also more contemporary spaces, where businesses, cafés, numerous ice cream parlors, and other cultural centers abound, such as the Luis Mariano Rivera Theater, which is named in homage to one of the most distinguished composers of Venezuelan popular music.
Casi toda mi actividad se desarrolló en el Centro Histórico de Cumaná, es decir, la zona colonial, que es a su vez, la más turística. Allí también se encuentra la sede del Gobierno Regional, tanto la actual sede de la Gobernación, como el antiguo Palacio de Gobierno.
Es una zona sumamente pintoresca y de gran belleza. Uno de los atractivos más llamativos, que son los murales, no los incluí en esta publicación, pues se merecen un espacio propio, que publicaré próximamente.
En esa zona central es donde se encuentra la Casa Ramos Sucre, que fue donde tuvimos nuestro encuentro hiver. Un maravilloso centro cultural que es epicentro de toda una movida literaria.
Además de la arquitectura colonial, también se encuentran espacios más actuales, donde abundan los comercios, cafés, numerosas heladerías y otros centros culturales, como el Teatro Luis Mariano Rivera, que lleva ese nombre en homenaje a uno de los más destacados compositores de la música popular venezolana.

Río Manzanares
The song in the video at the end of the post, which I recommended you use as musical accompaniment for this piece, is Río Manzanares. This is the river that runs through the city and is its symbol. It has been the inspiration for many songs, poems, and texts of all kinds.
La canción del video que está al final del post, la cual les recomendé como acompañamiento musical, es Río Manzanares. Es el río que atraviesa la ciudad y su símbolo, sirviendo de inspiración para numerosas canciones, poesías y textos de todo tipo.
Basílica de Santa Inés
One of Cumaná's greatest beauties is the Minor Basilica of Santa Inés (Basílica Menor de Santa Inés), located in the Historic Center, practically across the street from the Casa Ramos Sucre and the inn where I stayed.
It is a structure with tall towers that can be seen from almost every part of the city center and serve as a landmark. Several of the city's attractions are located around it. This city is the oldest on the continent, which is why it is called 'La Primogénita' (The Firstborn). The city was founded in 1515.
Una de las más grandes bellezas de Cumaná es la Basílica Menor de Santa Inés, ubicada en el Centro Histórico, prácticamente al frente de la Casa Ramos Sucre y de la posada donde me hospedé.
Es una construcción de torres elevadas que se pueden ver desde casi cualquier punto del centro de la ciudad y sirven de referencia. Alrededor de ella se concentran varios de los atractivos de esta ciudad, que es la más antigua del continente, razón por la cual la llaman "La Primogénita". La ciudad fue fundada en 1515.

Activity in Cumaná is 'early' (tempranera), and as the sun sets, the streets begin to empty out. However, this doesn't detract from the city's appeal, as it is well maintained in terms of lighting, and there are numerous light decorations that highlight its beauty.
La actividad en Cumaná es "tempranera" y al caer el sol las calles empiezan a vaciarse. Pero esto no le resta atractivo a la ciudad, ya que está bien cuidada en iluminación y hay numerosas decoraciones lumínicas que resaltan su belleza.
But the capital of Sucre state offers us many more beautiful sights. Therefore, just like the post about the murals, which is still pending, I will also bring you my visit to the Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia in another installment.
