Machinery Making a New Roadway

Utah Department of Transportation was paving the midsection of the I215 on the East side of Salt Lake City; So I decided to take some photos.

They have been at this project for the last couple of years.

The picture above shows some final prep work before the paving.

Workers place a layer of asphault as a base for the thick cement layer.

UDOT has a machine that can lay and level an entire lane of traffic at a time. They were able to do the section below in just a few hours.

ODOT has only one section of freeway left to process for this job. The last section is mostly asphault; so they will probably be done in a month or so.

I took the pictures with my cellphone as I find it a little less conspicuous than my Nikon D90.
