| Hi friends! Over the weekend, as the whole world celebrated Easter — and this year, both Eastern and Western Christians marked it on the same day, which is quite rare — our family traveled to my wife’s hometown of Yavoriv. We always go there for Easter to visit her mother and grandmother, who live in a cozy house in a quiet one-story neighborhood. On the day before Easter, we prepared for the evening blessing of the Easter baskets, and during the day we decided to go for a short walk near my mother-in-law’s house. My wife and I went with our two older kids — our daughter and five-year-old son. He was on a scooter, even though it wasn’t easy to ride on the semi-dirt road. But hey, what won’t a determined little boy do, right? | Привіт, друзі! На вихідних, коли весь світ святкував Великдень (а цього року і християни східного, і західного обряду святкували його в один день — що буває нечасто), ми з родиною поїхали до рідного міста дружини - Яворова. Ми завжди буваємо там на Великдень — приїжджаємо в гості до мами моєї дружини та її бабусі, які живуть в особняку у спокійному, одноповерховому кварталі. У день перед Великоднем ми готувалися до вечірнього освячення великодніх кошиків. А вдень вирішили трохи прогулятися неподалік від дому тещі. Ми пішли з дружиною та двома старшими дітьми — донькою і п’ятирічним сином. Син був на самокаті, хоча по напівґрунтовій дорозі їхати було незручно. Але що не зробить хлоп'яча наполегливість, правда ж? |

| At first, we walked along the road by the river. The water was surprisingly clear — as clear as glass. In fact, that’s how the river got its name: Shklo, which means "glass" in Ukrainian. Later, we turned off the road, surrounded by the full bloom of spring. Everything was flowering — mostly cherry and sour cherry trees. The apple trees hadn’t started blooming yet. Suddenly, I noticed an oak tree with dry leaves. It looked very out of place among all the greenery. I know that oaks usually shed their leaves in winter and wake up later than other trees, but this one looked almost dead. I got curious and came closer. And sure enough — there were live buds on its branches! The oak just hadn’t woken up yet, but soon it would turn green too. It was strange and beautiful at the same time to see this tree, still covered in dry, dark yellow leaves, standing among lush spring foliage. | Спочатку ми гуляли по дорозі біля річки. Вода в ній була напрочуд чиста — чиста, як шкло. Власне, через це річка й отримала назву Шкло. Потім ми звернули з дороги вбік — навколо був справжній розпал весняного цвітіння. Усе цвіло — переважно вишні та черешні. Яблуні ще не встигли розпуститися. І раптом я помітив дуб із сухим листям. Серед зелені навколо він виглядав дуже незвично. Я знаю, що дуби скидають листя взимку і прокидаються пізніше за інші дерева, але цей виглядав так, ніби зовсім засох. Мені стало цікаво, і я підійшов ближче. І таки побачив — на гілках були живі бруньки! Дуб просто ще не прокинувся, але незабаром теж зазеленіє. Було дивно й водночас красиво бачити, як дерево ще в сухому, темно-жовтому листі, стоїть серед буйної зелені. |

| We also came across a cat that had run out from a yard with an old little house. The yard was overgrown with thick green vegetation, and the cat wasn’t too eager to be photographed — although it was very beautiful. | Також ми зустріли кота, який утік з якогось подвір’я зі старою хатинкою. Подвір’я було вкрите густою зеленою рослинністю, і кіт не надто хотів фотографуватися, хоча був дуже гарний. |

| We walked down the street, surrounded by blooming trees, with bumblebees and bees buzzing around, pollinating the blossoms and gathering nectar to make the first honey of the year. We were enjoying the warmth of a spring day on the eve of Easter. | Ми йшли вулицею, все довкола цвіло, гуділи джмелі й бджоли, які запилювали дерева, збираючи нектар, щоб виробити перший у цьому році мед. Ми насолоджувалися теплим весняним днем напередодні Великодня. |
