| What a cynical and cruel world we live in. Ukraine is now under immense pressure to agree to a ceasefire with the aggressor state, Russia — all in the name of stopping a brutal war that has already claimed hundreds of thousands of lives on both sides. But no one wants to pressure Russia — it's too troublesome, and it has nuclear weapons. It's easier to pressure the weaker party, Ukraine. But Ukraine resists. It refuses to accept that its territories are lost forever. How can it be right to simply take something by force? If someone likes your land, can they just conquer it? This is the twisted logic the world wants us to accept — but we won’t. We reject this shameful idea of "peace." We call for support, weapons, clear condemnation of Russia, tougher sanctions — not their easing or removal. And Russia shows exactly how much it wants “peace” by launching massive attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities in recent weeks: Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kyiv. Just last night, a new strike on the capital — at least 10 dead, hundreds wounded, hit with rockets and drones. Thankfully, air bombs can’t reach that far. Let me remind you: this war isn’t new. Russia has waged it against us for centuries, trying to absorb our land, erase us, assimilate us. On Sunday, we were in Yavoriv, honoring our ancestors at the cemetery — including the partisans who fought the Soviet-Russian occupation in the 1940s and 50s, when Moscow came to Western Ukraine. The rest of Ukraine had already been occupied in the 1920s. We fought back then — and lost. But we remembered. And when Ukraine regained independence, we built monuments to those fighters in every village and town where memory survived. We remember. And we will remember — as long as we exist. But even our existence is under threat. Russia wants to erase us all. | Який цинічний і жорстокий світ. А тим часом Україна стискається в лещатах шаленого тиску — тиску на перемир’я з країною-агресором, Росією. Заради припинення цієї жорстокої війни, яка вже забрала сотні тисяч життів з обох боків. Але на Росію тиснути ніхто не хоче — це надто клопітно, до того ж у неї ядерна зброя. Простіше змусити поступитися слабшу сторону — Україну. Та Україна пручається. Вона не хоче визнавати свої території втраченими назавжди. Бо як це — просто взяти й забрати щось силою? Чиясь земля сподобалася — і її можна завоювати? Саме до цієї думки світ намагається нас привчити. Але ми опираємось. Ми не хочемо приймати це ганебне «перемир’я». Ми просимо про підтримку, зброю, про чітке засудження Росії, про посилення тиску, про жорсткіші санкції — а не їхнє зняття чи послаблення. І Росія дуже показово демонструє, як саме вона «прагне» миру. За останні тижні — масовані атаки на мирні українські міста: Кривий Ріг, Харків, Суми, Київ. Цієї ночі — новий удар по столиці. Відомо вже про 10 загиблих, сотні поранених. Вони били чим могли — ракетами, «шахедами»… Добре, що авіабомби не долітають на таку відстань. Я лише хочу нагадати: ця війна — не нова. Росія веде її проти нас століттями. Вона намагається будь-яким способом поглинути українські землі, знищити, асимілювати українців. Ми були в неділю в місті Яворові. На цвинтарі відбувалося вшанування похованих — і серед них повстанців, які в 40–50-х роках боролися проти окупаційного радянсько-російського режиму. Того самого, який у 40-х роках прийшов на Західну Україну. Бо решту України Росія окупувала ще в 20-х роках ХХ століття. Ми тоді боролися. І програли. Але пам’ять про цю боротьбу залишилась. І коли Україна відновила незалежність, ми в кожному селі, в кожному містечку, де жила пам’ять про борців — поставили меморіали, пам’ятники. Ми пам’ятаємо. І будемо пам’ятати. Допоки існуватимемо. Але й саме наше існування — під загрозою. Росія хоче знищити нас усіх. |

Everyone has suffered from war, war is terrible, but in this case the most terrible thing is that it was started by Russia, which is a nuclear power and does whatever it wants because everyone else is afraid to do anything to it.
