INTRODUCTION
I have been into breeding isopods for about half a year so far and have picked up various species with these being one. These guys breed super fast and although they look like insects they are more closely related to crustaceans like shrimp.

Although breeding isopods is something I enjoy there is a financial side to the story as well! Some rarer species are very sought after in the hobby and can sell for a good amount per isopod. These guys in particular sell for $.75 - $2 which is on the lower end.

BREEDING
These guys breed super fast and each female can have broods of up to 40+ baby isopods!(You can see one baby in the picture) They require very little maintenance once setup and I consider them to be a semi-passive income source.

I usually start with 100+ isopods of any given species(Unless super expensive) that way they will have babies way quicker. Given the sell values mentioned above these guys can fetch a decent amount of income.

INFORMATION
Porcellionides pruinosus is a medium sized isopod that grows and reproduces very quickly. These isopods are also very fast moving and catching them can be a challenge! They have a powdery coating to them which sets them apart from other similar species. This species is great for large enclosures that need a clean up crew established quickly, and are also fairly tolerant of arid environments as long as a moist hide is provided at all times. This is one of my favorite species for bioactive setups due to their ability to tolerate a wide range of environments and establish quickly.

This species will readily cannibalize each other if there is not enough protein in their diet. I make sure I feed mine a protein source such as fish food or freeze dried shrimp about once a week when culturing separately.

Thanks for reading!
