We are all equal. Week 210.

Nice day, friends of the Weekend Experiences community. New week with new topics proposed by @galenkp to discuss our experiences and connect with each other. Many themes are designed to make use of our creative capacity and, in that way, let our imagination run wild. But the issue that caught my attention is related to wanting to change gender at some point in my life.

It is interesting to me how society has stereotyped the roles that each sex should play. It has placed men at the top of society. She has decided that the man's role is to financially support all the needs of the family. For him it is not allowed to be afraid, nor to show signs of weakness. That is something that society disapproves of. The stereotype of the ideal man is someone strong, charismatic, successful, courageous and bold. To the world, the man cannot be capable of feeling fear, nor have any feelings that question his masculinity. All these concepts put a great deal of social pressure on him.

On the other hand, women are considered the weaker sex, subject to discrimination and mistreatment. We have been given the attributes of being vulnerable, emotionally unstable and not knowing exactly what we want. We have been marginalized in many societies and cultures throughout history. Even today, there are societies where the fate of women depends on the will of men.

But society is not the only one that determines our fate. It only contributes 50%. The other half depends on our character and the way we understand life and impose ourselves on it. That is why there are men who, despite being favored by society, never manage to exceed the expectations placed on them. On the other hand, there are women who have brilliantly imposed themselves on their macho society. Women who from their femininity have been able to raise their voices and have been able to make countless contributions in different spheres of life such as science, culture, politics, human rights, among others.

I admire women who, from their weak side, have been able to show strength, those who look at themselves in the mirror and feel proud of their own image. That is why I have never thought of wanting to be a man at some point in my life. I am convinced that men and women are equal in will, intelligence and determination. Instead of changing we should focus on respecting and supporting, without putting so many social pressures on each other. Because if we take a good look at ourselves, in terms of rights, we are all equal.
