I admire artists. With their delicacy and skill, they are capable of transforming simple materials into true works of art. With their talent they bring their ideas to life and at the same time, they make those of us who admire their work capture the passion put into each work. Yesterday I visited an art exhibition at the Art Gallery in my city. The work of the artist José Luis Triana Rivas was exhibited there. Their art pieces are made with the Paper mache technique. This technique is very old, dating back to the 3rd century after Christ. The first objects found with this technique are from that time period. It emerged in China. Then India and Persia followed until it spread to all countries.

Its name comes from the French "papier mache" which means crushed paper. The universal ingredients that should not be missing when preparing the mixture are: paper, water and glue. Although there are other products that artists add according to the work to be done.

This technique is used throughout the world for the creation of sculptures, decorative objects and crafts. It is used to make masks, costumes, puppets and carnival, theater and film props.

In Cuba, the plastic artist Antonia Eiriz was the first painter to use and teach this technique at the end of the 60s and during the 70s.

Admiro a los artistas. Ellos con su delicadeza y destreza son capaces de transformar simples materiales en verdadera obras de arte. Con su talento le dan vida a sus ideas y a la vez hacen, que los que admiramos su trabajo, captemos la pasión puesta en cada obra.
Ayer visité una exposición de arte en la Galería de Arte de mi ciudad. Allí se exponía la obra del artista José Luis Triana Rivas. Sus piezas de arte están confeccionadas con la técnica de Papel maché. Esta técnica es bien antigua, pues se remonta al Siglo III después de Cristo. Los primeros objetos encontrados con esta técnica son de ese período de tiempo. Surgió en China. Después le siguió India y Persia hasta extenderse a todos los países.

Su nombre proviene del francés "papier mache" que significa papel machacado. Los ingredientes universales que no deben faltar en la elaboración de la mezcla son: papel, agua y pegamento. Aunque hay otros productos que los artistas le agregan acorde al trabajo a realizar.

Esta técnica es utilizada en el mundo entero para la creación de esculturas, objetos decorativos y artesanías. Se usa para elaborar máscaras, disfraces, títeres y utilería de carnaval, teatro y cine.

En Cuba, fue la artista plástica Antonia Eiriz la primera pintora en emplear y enseñar esta técnica a finales de los años 60' y durante la década del 70'.

The exhibition I visited shows different table lamps made with this technique. In a very creative way the artist achieves a harmonious fusion between characters and striking colors. Transmitting a lot of joy in his work. Looking at his work made me remember my childhood, where I recreated different stories with my favorite characters. Their work, done with incredible delicacy, becomes an ideal accessory to decorate the rooms of the little ones in the home. Its lamps can make fantasy flourish in little children's minds and make children, along with incredible characters, have fun adventures while they sleep.

La exposición que visité muestra diferentes lámparas de mesa confeccionadas con esta técnica. De forma muy creativa el artista logra una fusión armoniosa entre personajes y colores llamativos. Trasmitiendo mucha alegría en su trabajo. Mirar su obra me hizo recordar mi infancia, donde recreaba disímiles historias con mis personajes favoritos. Su trabajo, realizado con una delicadeza increíble, se convierte en un accesorio ideal para adornar las habitaciones de los más pequeños del hogar. Sus lámparas pueden hacer florecer la fantasía en las pequeñas mentes infantiles y hacer que, junto a personajes increíbles, los niños tengan aventuras divertidas mientras duermen.

I spent an extraordinary afternoon between art and memories. I really enjoyed the artist's creativity and delicacy conveyed in his work. These were the lamps that I liked the most. Here I share the photos of them. I hope you really like them.
