De visita al Museo Armer 9 de Abril, nos sumergimos mi esposo y yo en un mundo que casi no conocía. Es un pequeño museo con entrada libre, que antiguamente era una tienda de armas, en los viejos tiempos, y ahora se ha convertido en un museo con una atractiva colección de armas de fuego, espadas y dagas de los últimos 400 años.

Es uno de los tantos que cubre La Habana, Cuba, específicamente en la calle Mercaderes 157. Originalmente perteneció a la Compañía Armera de Cuba, que la instaló en 1934 en aquella parte de La Habana Vieja.

En la entrada, también se sitúan diferentes tipos de municiones, armas, y adjuntos provenientes de épocas y de figuras ilustres del país y el Caribe, en sí mismos. También pudimos apreciar, armas utilizadas por piratas y capitanes generales, corsarios y soldados, que en sus días las pudieron empuñar.

Esta interesante visita, ha sido cautivadora desde el primer instante en que tuvimos la necesidad de visibilizar la cultura y la tradición armamentística de Cuba. Espontánea, sublime, se muestra ante los ojos cautivadores de personas curiosas como nosotros.

Nos rodeamos de muchas personas, también deseosas de esclarecer ideas acerca de la temática en cuestión, tema de este tan particular museo.

Las armas se mantienen cuidadas, libres de manchas, con un brillo natural y con un cuidado que denota esmero y dedicación. Luces presuntuosas y todas forman parte de un conjunto de maravillas invaluables, detalladas con el más cauteloso de las herramientas.

Las que más llamaron la atención, fueron las que se enmarcaron en la época de los piratas que cercaron La Habana hace muchos años atrás, cuando el pueblo habanero tuvo que defender la joya nacional.

Vista desde esta perspectiva, mi esposo quedó hechizado con las armas que donó nuestro Fidel Castro: una memoria establecida en aquellos “trofeos” utilizados en la salvaguarda de un país entero que luchaba por su independencia y por lograr ser cada día un poco más libre.

Es La Habana Vieja, un lugar que todo visitante, cubano o extranjero, está obligado a “saludar”, declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 1982. El casco histórico de la ciudad de La Habana, está formado a partir del puerto y el centro oficial de la Plaza de Armas. Es un espacio que hemos podido apreciar en múltiples ocasiones, pero nunca hemos podido revisar todos los rincones que ella posee de manera elegante y misteriosa. Cuenta con muchos tipos de monumentos antiguos, fortalezas, iglesias, palacios, entre otros, con una gran belleza y cada uno con un valor cultural y patrimonial inigualable.
