The bird seen in the photo I shared is the Sumatran Ciung Batu (Myophonus castaneus), one of the endemic bird species of Sumatra Island which is included in the Muscicapidae or worm bird family. The characteristic of this bird is its dominant bluish black feathers that are shiny with bright blue spots on the head and neck. Its unique and striking appearance makes it one of the birds that is highly sought after by bird watchers and wildlife photographers.

The Sumatran Ciung Batu is usually found in tropical mountain forests at altitudes between 600 and 2,500 meters above sea level such as Aceh. They are often seen among bushes and dense trees, especially near rivers or humid areas. This bird is very sensitive to environmental disturbances and deforestation, so that its natural habitat continues to shrink due to land conversion and illegal logging.

In addition to its physical beauty, the Ciung Batu bird is also known for its melodious and varied voices. They are able to imitate the sounds of other birds and the sounds of nature around them. This vocal ability makes it have an important role in the forest ecosystem as part of natural communication between species and as an indicator of the health of the forest environment.
