PhotoFeed Contest - Wildlife Photography Round 127 ~ Green Frog

avatar

Hello Hivers....

This post is my entry for the Cityscape Photography Contest hosted by @photofeed, If you would like to enter this contest, please read the rules here

The green frog in the photo I'm sharing is a species of amphibian that lives in wet environments, such as swamps, riverbanks, rice fields, and tropical forests. Its distinctive feature is the green covering its body combined with brown or blackish markings on its back. This contrasting coloration serves as camouflage, protecting it from predators and making it easier to hunt small prey.

The green frog has a slender body with smooth, moist skin. Its large, protruding eyes allow it to see in multiple directions without having to move its head. This photo clearly shows the combination of metallic green and brown on its back, which glistens in the light. This frog also has long, muscular legs that enable it to jump long distances and swim nimbly.

Green frogs are usually found near freshwater sources. They are nocturnal, hunting insects, worms, and small invertebrates. During the day, these frogs prefer to remain in shaded areas or rest on leaves and rocks, as in the photo.

As insect predators, green frogs help maintain ecosystem balance by controlling pest populations such as mosquitoes. Furthermore, frogs serve as bioindicators, indicating environmental health. A decline in frog populations could indicate pollution or ecosystem damage.

Although commonly found in nature, green frog populations can be threatened by environmental changes such as habitat loss due to land conversion, water pollution, and excessive pesticide use. Climate change also affects their breeding patterns, which are highly dependent on moisture.

Important Note: I wrote in Indonesian, then translated it using Google Translate.
