The photo I shared in the PhotoFeed - Street Photography Contest Round 122 is one of the quiet roads in Aceh province, the Banda Aceh - Calang road. This photo was taken on the way to Calang, Aceh Jaya. The Banda Aceh-Calang road that stretches across the Sampoiniet area, Aceh Jaya, offers an extraordinary view that is pleasing to the eye. In the photo I shared, the road looks deserted without a single vehicle passing by, giving the impression of calm and peace amidst the lush green nature. The smooth asphalt road and the firm yellow line in the middle guide the journey that feels long and quiet. This view implies how overland travel in Aceh is not only about the destination but also about enjoying the journey itself.

On the left and right sides of the road, tropical trees grow abundantly. Rows of pine trees on one side combine with oil palms and other forest trees to create a cool and shady atmosphere. Not only is this a connecting route between regions, this road is also like a natural corridor that takes us along the natural beauty of Aceh that is still preserved. The slightly cloudy sky gives a dramatic touch as if inviting every passerby to reflect in silence on the journey.

This road is a silent witness to the long journey of the people of the west coast of Aceh who were once devastated by the 2004 tsunami. Now, the Banda Aceh-Calang road is not only a vital route connecting the provincial capital with the western region of Aceh, but also a symbol of recovery and development. The silence seen in this photo presents a contemplative nuance inviting anyone to stop for a moment and appreciate the tranquility that may not be found in big cities.

For lovers of road tours or adventurers who want to get away from the hustle and bustle, this route is very worthy of being explored. Every curve of the road presents a landscape that changes from dense forest to terraced hills in the distance. The quiet atmosphere as in the photo actually provides a sense of intimacy between humans and nature. An experience that is not just a journey, but also a momentary escape to rediscover peace in silence.
