PhotoFeed Contest - Street Photography Round 121 ~ Geunie Children's School Return Story, Tangse

Hello Hivers....

This post is my entry for the Wildlife Photography Contest hosted by @Photofeed. If you would like to enter the contest, please read and follow the rules here

After the school bell rings, students from elementary school in Geunie Village, Tangse, start walking in a line across the suspension bridge that is their only access to their homes. The photo I am sharing shows a boy wearing an orange and brown school uniform typical of elementary school students, with a blue backpack on his back, walking slowly along the old-looking iron bridge. Meanwhile, a group of his friends can be seen in the distance, huddled together, chatting casually, enjoying the moment after school.

This suspension bridge is not just an ordinary way home for Geunie children but also a part of their lives and struggles in seeking knowledge. Made of iron frames and planks that are partly bent or rusty, this bridge requires them to walk carefully, especially during the rainy season when the surface becomes slippery. However, there is no fear visible on their faces, only enthusiasm, laughter, and togetherness that are their provisions every day.

The scenery around the bridge is so refreshing with lush green trees and the river flowing below reflecting the afternoon sunlight. These children grow up in an environment that is at one with nature and a journey home like this is an experience that they will remember as part of a simple but meaningful childhood. Here, every step home from school is a story about perseverance and the spirit of life in the village.

Although infrastructure such as this suspension bridge may be far from ideal, Geunie children still go to school with high spirits. This photo is a real portrait of the determination of village children in achieving their dreams. Hopefully, in the future, more attention from the government and the community can improve the security and comfort of access to education in villages like Geunie so that their enthusiasm continues to burn and grow in a better environment.
