PhotoFeed Contest - Portrait Photography Round 122 ~ Portrait of Cebrek Salt Farmers, Simpang Tiga, Pidie, Aceh
Hello Hivers...
This post is my entry for the Portrait Photography Contest hosted by @Photofeed. If you would like to enter the contest, please read the rules here
The photo I shared is of a salt farmer in the Cebrek area, Simpang Tiga, Pidie, working under the hot sun. He appears to be using a traditional tool in the form of a large wooden rake to level the drained salt pond land. Wearing brightly colored protective clothing including a hat and head covering, the farmer appears to be standing firmly in the middle of a vast expanse of land that reflects the hard work and perseverance of life on the coast.
In the distance, salt huts with thatched roofs are visible, where the harvest is stored or where the farmers take shelter. The expansive blue sky adds to the dramatic impression of the hot and dry atmosphere that is part of the daily life of the salt farmers.
This photo shows how important the role of traditional salt farmers is in preserving the heritage of local salt production, which although simple, remains the backbone of the economy of coastal communities in Pidie.
Important Note: I wrote in Indonesian, then translated it using Google Translate.
