In this post I share some photos about Geulumpang fruit (Acehnese language), in Acehnese this fruit is called geulumpang fruit.

Geulumpang trees grow tall and reach more than 20 meters. The leaves are compound with wide blades, as seen. This tree also has large plank roots (banir roots), helping to support its sturdy body. In its natural habitat, geulumpang trees are often home to various animals such as birds and insects, making it an important part of the tropical ecosystem.


Geulumpang fruit undergoes interesting changes as it grows. In the early stages, the fruit is bright green. When the fruit is ripe, it turns yellow to brown and eventually splits open, revealing the small seeds inside. When the geulumpang fruit is ripe and opened, it reveals its shiny black seeds.

The geulumpang tree thrives in coastal areas, swamps, and is often used as a protective plant on the side of the road because of its high resistance to wind and salt water. The leaves are dense and glossy green, providing natural shade. Although it looks attractive, the fruit and all parts of the geulumpang plant contain strong poison, so it should not be consumed by humans or animals.

Geulumpang fruit with its dramatic appearance and contrasting colors is one real example of the uniqueness of tropical flora. Its existence enriches the biodiversity in coastal areas and reminds us of the importance of knowing and understanding the surrounding nature more deeply.
