Heavy Traffic during Sunset

Hello everyone! @qurator is hosting a Photo Quest and the theme for this week is 'Heavy Traffic'. I thought of participating with this picture.

Today I am going to share a scene of traffic jam with a dramatic sunset. It was actually not my intention to capture the traffic itself but I was trying to get a proper picture of the beautiful sunset. At the same time, I also like the bright brake lights of the traffic and they stand out during dimmed evenings and nights. So I ended up capturing both in some of the images.

This is when my family and I were coming back home from a little trip. At this time the traffic was leaning towards a moving jam. The cars were going slowly but it was getting worse. I was getting bored sitting at the back so I thought of taking some pictures of the ongoing sunset in the background.

So here's where the traffic almost became a standstill as too many cars were out due to being peak hour. It was almost 7.30 pm and that's when most people are out after work. The standard office hours are up to 5.00 pm and at most it will be 6.00 pm. However it is not common for most people to be able to leave on time and therefore the traffic jam peaks around this time. Moreover, this is also the time when people head out to have dinner and the tables in most restaurants start get occupied after 7.00pm.

This was my final attempt to capture the dramatic sunset that was going on amongst the chaotic drive. I like the golden hues of this image but it won't be suitable for the theme so I kept it as a supporting picture. I just wanted to get home and my place could be reached within five minutes if there wasn't any traffic but that wasn't the case here. It took such a long time to get home which delayed our dinner time especially mine because I prefer to eat only after a refreshing shower.
