Distance Beyond the Hills
Hello everyone! @qurator is hosting a weekly Photo Quest and I thought of participating. The theme for this week is 'Distance' and I wanted to post some wonderful pictures I took during my vacation in Cameron Highlands. As it is a highland, I took some pictures from the peak which shows the depth of distance where everything else shrinks from the view.

Distance can mean many things, both literal and figurative. Sometimes it can be silence and sometimes it is a breathtaking view far away from everything. Just like the picture above where I was surrounded by layers of hills, tea plantations and clouds wrapped in distance. I felt so tiny and many things felt insignificant as I looked at everything from afar.
So here's a little back story. During our short trip to one of the coldest places in Malaysia, we went to Cameron Valley 1. Cameron Valley refers a group of famous tea estates. They all have the same name but were numbered so we can distinguish between the different locations. We chose to go to the Cameron Valley 1 estate first. It seemed to be the largest among the three.

This is the top of the tea estate. It was almost like climbing a mountain. Can you see the little paths in distance? That's where we started walking and we had to keep going until we reached here at the top. It was a tiring journey but worth the beautiful view and the beautiful scenery we experienced on the way. There were so many colourful flowers I came across and the fragrant tea leaves plantation. It was fascinating to walk around them while being able to smell them.

This is how it looks at the edge of the resting area at the end of the journey. We can enjoy the view from the top here. We can even try to spot our hotel building if it's visible. There were some seating areas at the back too for people to rest before continuing the journey back down. So this is only half the walk and if anyone wants to try, I suggest considering the weather, timing and how much effort it takes to go up and back down.

This is me, enjoying the view. I was actually exhausted. We had to make many stops at the stairs while walking up to catch our breath. Thankfully, there were multiple stops with even benches and gazebos for us to sit for a moment to drink some water or just take a little break. By the way, it was extremely windy which is why my hair was flying.

That's the final flight of stairs we had to climb to get here. Even there I had to stand for a moment before reaching the final step as I was literally out of breath. The journey back down later was even more exhausting as my legs could not keep up. It was overall a fun but challenging journey. I don't think I will do it again but if I ever come back here, I will just ride one of the buggies to get halfway. The second half of the journey to the peak here could only be done on foot. At least it won't be as tiring then as it requires only half the effort.

A special appreciation thanks to @qurator for regularly hosting such challenges as it is motivating for everyone to post more often. My best wishes to everyone participating and thank you for dropping by. Have a wonderful day ahead!
But that day you're there not too chilling isn't it? I've heard about the climate changed in Cameron lately. Seeing the amounts of greenery across vast distance from your photo, it bring some cool vibes towards my face... Ahhh.... 🤣
Oh I see! This was last year almost year end 😅 it was only warm from 10 am until afternoon. Then it was cold and caused shivers. Evening onwards I was shaking even with hoodies hehe. At the time it rained often too. I felt like I was in another country as it was my first trip there. It is a little sad to know it's getting warmer in Cameron. I hope it's due to the current haze and not massive weather change. Oh it was so green there and lots of flowers everywhere even near the drain lol. Have you been to Cameron?
Wow! Such beautiful seneic views
Thank you sis! Yes it was a wonderful place 😊
