A Fiery Sunset in Penang

Hello everyone! @qurator is hosting a Photo Quest and the theme for this week is 'Sunset'. I wanted to join and this is my submission for this week's contest.
Sunsets are one of the miracles of nature. They last only for a short while but add a touch of beauty to the day. They are the golden hues of the last ray of light for the day fading away slowly reminding us that the day is almost over and it's time to rest. Although sunrise has similar colours, many people tend to miss them in the rush of starting the day. So sunset gives them a chance to experience the golden sky. The photograph that I'm submitting today for this quest was taken in Penang, Malaysia.

This is one of the windows in the Airbnb I stayed in during my trip to the Penang Island. This particular unit came with this extra window because it was the corner house. It can be opened at an angle to a small extent. This window is mostly to get an extra view of the Georgetown city in Penang. Also we can see the famous Penang bridge and the beautiful ocean as well.

This is when the sun was setting at 7.09 pm. The entry photograph too was taken around the same time within a few seconds. There was a high contrast between the orange and golden hues with the blue sky. The contrasting colours brought each other out more.

The pictures above were captured 5 minutes later exactly at 7.14 pm. Even though only a short amount of time has passed, the difference in the scene was massive as the sun was setting rapidly. Every passing minute created a different image of the sky. I captured the second photograph above in a slightly shifted angle to include the moon. There was a crescent moon in sight on that day.

These images were captured a minute later after I enjoyed watching the sunset at 7.15 pm. The night sky was forming as darkness started to engulf the previously well lit sky while the sun was setting. Penang has always had a glorious sun with much more heat compared to my area in Kuala Lumpur. I usually leave the state with tanned marks all over the exposed parts of my skin especially my feet and arms.

These are just some selfies I took of myself as I couldn't miss the golden hour because that's when the natural lighting looks best. My eyes really are brown but the sunlight emphasized it more and made my dark hair brown too. I may look a little disheveled as this was the first day where I traveled all the way from Kuala Lumpur to Penang. It was about 5 hours of journey excluding breaks and pitstops since morning. I was exhausted but excited and happy to finally reach the destination.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope that you have a wonderful day ahead. Thank you again to @qurator for hosting this contest and I wish all the best to the participants.

Sunset is truly magical, with all the hues the sky treats us to before it goes to rest. Those few seconds are magical, because they disappear so quickly that we hardly even notice. Best regards.
