Indian Journey

part 2

Random, New Delhi, India

A very common monkey to see specially in big cities is the Rhesus macaque. It was a great experience to see so any animals walking around freely and the majority of people treating them with respect as well as appreciating their presence by feeding them or providing places for them to drink water.

I love sneaking up to monkeys and getting close enough for a good shot.

@aksu has a Sony 7r and I have quite a few E-mount lenses. Unfortunately my sony 7r ii broke a few years ago and it costs as much to get it fixed as buying a new one. I tried taking it apart and noticed I needed to get to the shutter to adjust some screws. I never pieced it back together, but I took all parts along and will give it to someone here in India and maybe they can get it working.

Street Photography

In a place where one can see elephants, monkeys, cows, dogs and many more animals on the streets, taking out your camera can be a lot of fun. I'm sure a lot of photographers would agree that is the case almost anywhere on our beautiful planet. It just depends on what catches the eye of the beholder.

India has a lot of diversity and at times I get trapped in the thought of trying to picture the world from the eyes of random people I see. It's as if you're momentarily lost in the soul of someone, briefly imagining having lived the life of someone else. This also gives me a feeling of thinking I could have also been anyone but me.

To picture so many different lives can be as overwhelming as interacting with a huge crowd on these busy delhi streets. There are small things like people selling fruits or street food and how locals interact with them that seems interesting to observe for someone like me.

I always try to imagine what it would be like if i'd forget everything I know. Because everything i'm preconditioned with could give me a kind of comparison. I believe only with an open mind and an attitude that wasn't preconceived, can I try to see the essence and untainted beauty of things.

Markets

There are so many fascinating buildings in India and I am well aware that this vast country only gives me a small taste of the profound treasures hidden deep within it's depths.

Various traditional Handicraft markets such as Dhili Haat are hot spots to spend a great afternoon. At times it can also be an oppertunity for you to discover some start ups like:

A huge fan of painted pottery and home decor items, India is the place to be when it comes to wonderfully handmade art pieces.
