Es inevitable no sentir nostalgia por todo lo que ha estado pasando en Mérida a causa de las lluvias y ver todo ese desastre que esta dejando en tan hermoso lugar, y que impactante ha sido para mi ver las fotos ya que hace algunos meses estuve por allí. Hoy quiero resaltar su grandiosa vegetación, específicamente los frailejones unas plantas muy extraordinarias, el cual tiene un aspecto de un tallo grueso cubiertos de hojas qué a primera vista se nota que fuesen velludas, inmediatamente me dio la curiosidad de tocar las hojas largas, y efectivamente se siente una capa velluda muy humedad.

Y es que los frailejones actúan como esponjas, por eso le dicen los guardianes del páramo ya que capturan la humedad de la neblina con sus hojas. Esta increíble especie además de Mérida, se encuentran en los páramos de Táchira y Trujillo. Los frailejones pueden vivir cientos de años, en los cuales solo crece algunos centímetros por año.

Tener toda esta belleza en nuestro país, es increíble y poderlos ver de cerca, tocar y capturar lindas fotografías es una sensación muy bonita, que actualmente se invade en nostalgia por saber como están las inundaciones en Mérida, con la ayuda de Dios volverá hacer igual de hermosa en todos sus aspectos.

It is inevitable not to feel nostalgic for everything that has been happening in Merida because of the rains and see all that disaster that is leaving in such a beautiful place, and how shocking it has been for me to see the photos since a few months ago I was there. Today I want to highlight its great vegetation, specifically the frailejones, very extraordinary plants, which has an aspect of a thick stem covered with leaves which at first glance you notice that they were hairy, immediately gave me the curiosity to touch the long leaves, and indeed you can feel a very moist hairy layer.

Frailejones act like sponges, that is why they are called the guardians of the páramo, since they capture the humidity of the fog with their leaves. This incredible species is found not only in Mérida, but also in the páramos of Táchira and Trujillo. Frailejones can live for hundreds of years, growing only a few centimeters per year.

To have all this beauty in our country, is incredible and to be able to see them up close, touch and capture beautiful photographs is a very nice feeling, which currently invades in nostalgia to know how are the floods in Merida, with God's help will return to do just as beautiful in all its aspects.
