A Moody Day of Exploring the Ruins at the Top of the Hill | Spain

Last night, I was looking on Park4Night where I could go for the next day. I planned to go to the snow in the north but the weather forecast made me change my mind. I found a parkspot (P4N#25655) near a lake which felt like a fine place to spend a moody day and go for a walk in the Nature.

I arrived in the dark, around 22PM so I didn't get to see much from the environment and I actually didn't review that well where I was actually going as P4N isn't the best place for that. I was sure I could go for a walk and that the place would be in the middle of nowhere, all I needed to know.

The roads I had to drive to get to the place look promising for a good destination, but I didn't get to see them until next morning as it was dark at night

The view on the place I parked

The next morning I woke up with the soothing sound of rain which made me actually very lazy, so before I left my warm, comfy bed to make myself a delicious coffee took a while. I pulled the curtains away and ohh! It looked stunning outside!

A bit later I decided to go for a walk to see what was out there. I saw a hill with some kind of ruins on the top and decided that it was going to be my destination for the day.

This trip I am better prepared with warm clothes and even a ski-jacket. Last trip I was always dressed like it was summer since I never intended to travel until winter

I don't know if it is because of the rain, but I have not seen a single other person. It was just me and the sound of the birds, which didn't seem to mind the rain and spent their day chirping beautiful melodies.

It is beautiful how the seasons seem to change with every area. The vibe of this place definitely felt like autumn, with the orange-brown leaves on the trees and the rain. It has something beautiful in its own unique way.

The destination of the day

Arriving on the top of the hill I found myself exploring mysterious ruins and wondering about their past. I haven't read what the history of the buildings is and I am glad I didn't, so my mind has all the freedom to wonder. Maybe the place I explored would have once been the bedroom of a newborn baby, or it was a church or a little olive farm, or maybe all of it. It is surely a place of so many unwritten stories. The piles of stones I walked where once the buildingstones of a place someone was living, now they are slowly turning into an empty pile of stones while history is slowly forgotten.

Here you can clearly see the ruins between the trees

The views along the road felt to me like they could fit perfectly fine into a movie. The rain and clouds gave the area such a moody atmosphere and it was a bliss to get to capture it with my lens and even though it was raining most of the time, I loved every second of my walk and I am glad that I ended up on such a stunning place!

Wow! How beautiful, I really like the photos, the place is stunning. I also like your adventurous spirit and that you didn't research anything, so you give yourself a chance for surprise. My dream is to be able to do the same thing you do someday 🙌.

These images afford us the opportunity to travel through time. Imagine yourself standing on this hill, observing this magnificent castle as it watches the passage of time. How many stories has it witnessed? How many civilizations rose, flourished, and fell within its walls?

Thank you very much for these wonderful pictures, especially with this moody atmosphere 📸🤍

The views are breathtaking, the colors of the leaves are as if they were in an eternal autumn and the mist covering the green mountains in the background is fascinating.

Absolutely love this! I recently had a similar experience in my country, and the rainy and foggy weather is the best for such explorations out there!

Yess Exactly right! It makes it a bit more mysterious, I love it for photography. Better than those way to beautiful sunny days.

Great pics. Getting tired of what seems like constant moody days here in Vermont, and really looking forward to the Florida sunshine next month!

I can totally understand! Here it is sunny a lot so a day like this is actually very welcome. Back in Holland, all winter is just depressing.

C'mon down.!!

Your Always welcome in the still free (for now) state of FLA.

I prefer the north end where we reside. Less populated. 👍

I know the cabin fever/ bad weather blues all too well. Sitting out a three day delivery layover here in COLD North Carolina this week. 😉

Looks like we're going to end up more in the middle near the East coast. Verbal accept on a place in Ormond Beach. Just waiting for final signature this morning. This is our 4th try on a house down there in the last 2 weeks, seems the market has picked up a bit even with the interest rates still high. One of the drawbacks of the move, is that we'll have to give up our current 2.5% loan for what looks like a 7% or so.. ah well, life happens. Staying focused on the positives and really looking forward to that sunshine again!

I like everything in this post, my friend. The "foggy mood" of this adventure, solitude in the heart of nature... and these pictures are really amazing, in general, some of them are masterpiece!
This place reminded me of an abandoned village here in Sardinia. It's called "villaggio Asproni", not so distant from Nebida, the place we visited together.
When you come back to Sardinia... 😁

Yeah you should absolutely take me there! Let's pray for an other moody day haha. "Too bad" that the weather on Sardinia is too sunny mostly. I miss Sardinia 😂 Still my favourite European Destination.

At the end it was great that you changed your mind! What a beautiful place! It looks mysterious as you mentioned, and it also made me think about the past and the history.

I love the colors of the trees and the hills, they look very harmonious!

Thanks a lot for sharing!

I really like the vibe and the scenery on you pictures. Spain is actually full of this ruin villages. It's fun to drive around and don't plan too much...all of a sudden you are alone in these mysterious and beautiful places. Sometimes I park my van somewhere and I just feel that I need to wait until the sky clears again, and mostly it's worth waiting.

Yeah totally agree! However, I try to travel a bit more with a goal since I have "limited time" (which is sometimes just a grocery store or internet to work with)
Usually the unexpected things are the best. Back in the days when I had the luxury of no job, I would literally go wherever without plan and could always sleep in a tent. I loved that kinda Travels most.
