#Monomad Challenge - Waiting for the Bus

Good evening, #Monomad friends

Here is my entry for the #monomad contest by @brumest and @monochromes.

The bus stop. The place where we are and where we wait. Sometimes we don’t even notice who’s standing next to us. Absorbed in the small screen in our hands, we don’t even notice time passing. And so we go… We get on the bus, and sometimes we don’t even say “good morning” to those who were waiting with us at the stop, or even to the driver as we board…

But there’s still hope. In this case, as in many others, older people possess wisdom that’s worth its weight in gold.

Don’t waste time in such a trivial way. Look at the other person as someone who might be very interesting to get to know, or as someone who simply wants to hear a simple “good morning” in return for their greeting.

Look the other person in the eye. Focus our attention on the moment, rather than on thoughts of what I’ll have to do as soon as the bus drops me off at my stop, or on what I should be doing if I weren’t sitting or standing here… waiting. Simply waiting…

But it’s a generous kind of waiting. It reaches out and bridges the distance between two hearts beating in different chests, yet at their core, we all share the same essential function.
