#Monomad Challenge - Belmonte Castle

Good evening, #Monomad friends

Here is my entry for the #monomad contest by @brumest and @monochromes.

In the Birthplace of Pedro Álvares Cabral

Memories hold a special significance. There are memories we would like to hold onto forever, and others that, unfortunately, we cannot forget. For those who love to take pictures—and photography itself—memories are almost inseparable from the images associated with them.

On a trip to my hometown, which lies deep in the interior of the country, I decided to take a slight detour and visit Belmonte Castle. Located in the birthplace of Pedro Alvares Cabral. One of the most prominent Portuguese navigators and explorers of the 1500s. Having died around the age of 53, his life was marked by the voyage of discovery to Brazil.

Belmonte Castle is known for its Manueline-style windows. A sunny day didn’t allow me to capture as many details as I wanted, but today, while “hitchhiking” through memories of trips I’ve taken, I stopped at this album of photos taken in June 2017.

The reference to Cabral’s coat of arms is obvious and is inscribed on the castle itself, which stands serenely at the highest point of Belmonte.
