Today, I had to pick up some documents from a colleague who lives very close to the Sintra Mountains. On a particularly cold day in Portugal, with lots of rain, I was lucky that there wasn't much traffic, as it's not a very inviting time for tourists...

Although tourism in Sintra does not suffer much from bad weather. Demand is so high that it sometimes does not slow down even in the coldest and darkest months of winter.

A severe weather warning was issued for today, and despite the warnings of heavy rain, there were still periods during the afternoon when the clouds cleared, and the sun timidly appeared and almost warmed the skin...

In Sintra, temperatures are never very high, and it is always significantly colder and windier than in the towns closer to central Lisbon.

Sintra is a fantastic place, and today, as I only had a few minutes to walk from where I left my car to my friend's house, I didn't get to explore much. Although the temperature was around 8ºC, it certainly felt colder. So, the conditions were not right for me to explore a little more of this fantastic historic town in my country.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit Portugal, Sintra is definitely one of the places you should consider spending a day of your stay to get to know. And I guarantee that there will be plenty, but really plenty, for you to see on a second and third visit.

Here are some photos I took today, very close to the Sintra Municipal Market, which had already closed by the time I arrived. I also passed by the entrance to the Sintra Museum of Art, which, despite being open, I didn't have time to visit as I was pressed for time.

At the end, I still had the opportunity to see the Moorish Castle.
One of the best views from here.

I hope you enjoyed this little trip to Sintra.

I hope you enjoyed my post here in the B&W community
