CCC's Street Art Contest #266 "Unknown" Oteuavôpreferido, Cova da Piedade, Almada, Portugal [Eng-Pt]

Yesterday, I shared some photos I took at the Festa da Nossa Senhora da Piedade (Feast of Our Lady of Mercy) in Cova da Piedade. A friend invited me to visit the parish, enjoy the well-known festivities, and share a street dinner.
When I got close to the place, I managed to find a good parking spot a few meters away, in a small vacant lot, where the facade of an old building is juxtaposed with a slightly deteriorated wall. I immediately came across a very striking mural.
It looked like the logo of an association or some local cultural movement. But as I got closer, I realized that it was indeed a mural that had been painted very recently.
Although it only had two colors, its symmetry and perfection showed that the work involved was not simple.
As I had just crossed the Tagus River, when I first saw the symmetry in the design, I began to imagine that it could even be the profile of the 25 de Abril Bridge from the perspective of someone standing on the bridge deck. Then I thought it might be the initials of a local graffiti team...
Only today, after doing a little research, did I realize what it really was.
This project is called “Oteuavôpreferido” (Yourpreferedgrandfather), and is headed by a visual artist from Margem Sul, whose identity is unknown to us... as is customary in this milieu. This artist has been developing street art since 2011. He is a resident and worker in this region south of the Tagus River, and has his roots in graffiti, developing this very particular and visually appealing technique, which leaves passersby completely baffled.
His very own imaginary world comes to life when projected through mundane graphic elements, achieving a striking visual impact, as can be seen in this work that I am sharing here.
The repetition of various elements in his works is one of his main characteristics, which makes him almost like a unique brand.
I am sure that if I ever come across another work of his, I will have no difficulty in attributing it to him.

Even on the wall to the left of the building's facade, we can see what looks like a miniature “prototype” for the giant canvas!
I hope you enjoyed my rather enigmatic but highly artistic and remarkable publication today. Just by using two colors, he manages to convey so much strength to the piece.

Ontem partilhei umas fotos que tirei na Festa da Nossa Senhora da Piedade, na Cova da Piedade. Fui convidado por uma amiga para ir conhecer a paróquia e aproveitar as festas muito conhecidas, e partilhar um jantar de rua.
Quando chegando perto do local, consegui encontrar um bom lugar para estacionar, a poucos metros de distância, num pequeno terreno baldio, onde uma fachada de um prédio antigo está justaposta a um muro já um pouco deteriorado, dei de caras logo com uma pintura mural bem marcante.
Parecia um logotipo de uma associação, ou de algum movimento cultural local. Mas chegando mais perto percebi que era mesmo um mural que tinha sido produzido há bem pouco tempo.
Apesar de ter apenas duas cores, a sua simetria e perfeição denota que o trabalho realizado não foi simples.
Como eu tinha atravessado o Rio Tejo, primeiro ao ver uma simetria no desenho, comecei a imaginar que até poderia ser como que o perfil da Ponte 25 de Abril pela perspectiva de quem está no tabuleiro da ponte. Depois ainda pensei que pudessem ser as iniciais de alguma equipa de grafiteiros da região...
Só hoje, ao fazer uma breve pesquisa consegui perceber o que se tratava realmente.
Este projecto é denominado de "Oteuavôpreferido", e é encabeçado apenas por uma artista visual da Margem Sul, o qual desconhecemos a sua identidade... como já vem sendo habitual neste meio. Este artista desenvolve trabalhos de rua desde 2011. É um habitante, e trabalhador desta região a sul do Tejo, e tem nas suas raízes o grafiti, desenvolvendo esta técnica muita particular e muito apelativa em termos visuais, e que não deixa quem passa ficar completamente esclarecido.
O seu mundo imaginário bem próprio, ganha vida quando é projectado através de elementos gráficos banais, obtendo uma carga visual bem notória, como se pode ver por este trabalho que aqui partilho.
A repetição de vários elementos, entre os seus trabalhos, são uma das suas principais características, o que o tornam quase como que uma marca única.
Tenho a certeza que se alguma vez eu voltar a cruzar-me com outro trabalho dele que não terei qualquer dificuldade em lhe atribuir a autoria.

Mesmo no muro à esquerda da fachada do prédio podemos ver como que um "protótipo" miniatura para a tela em ponto gigante!
Espero que tenham gostado desta minha publicação de hoje bastante enigmática, mas bastante artística e de uma qualidade marcada. Que apenas usando duas cores consegue transmitir tanta força à peça.
