CCC's Street Art Contest #252 "Bonjardim" - Costah, Porto, Portugal [Eng-Pt]
Good morning, friends!
Welcome to another post in the Street Art community!
Located on one of Porto's most emblematic streets, but not its main thoroughfares, Rua do Bonjardim, you'll find this mural, named “Bonjardim” after the street where it is located, which in Portuguese literally means “Good Garden”.
This mural was conceived and realized by Portuguese artist Nuno Costa, aka Costah. He has been a graffiti artist since 1998 and has been tattooing since 2007. Invariably two areas that come together very often, as they draw from a common source of inspiration and a taste for drawing and leaving a mark, one more indelible than the other, without a shadow of a doubt.
Your work very much reflects your taste for creating environments almost in the style of cartoons. Simple boys and girls with vibrant colors and marked contrasts are among his strongest points. You can also see some natural elements that are sometimes included.
In this particular work, we see that there is almost a personification of the street, which in this case is made of bone and flesh, and which conveys a tranquillity. It also depicts one of the houses, with a little girl drawn in the style of what we used to do when we were in elementary school, don't you think? This way of approaching his art always captivates those who pass by his work with its good energy and a certain simplicity that leads us to dream of a future. A better, brighter future, full of life!
Right above the artist's mural was another piece. I couldn't quite identify its author. But its beauty lies somewhat in the mystery that surrounds it. I don't know why, but it reminded me a bit of the “Holy Shroud” of Jesus Christ, I don't know if you've heard of this ancient artifact. This element, framed in an apparently metallic frame, and with a drawing of a human figure (?) with his hands next to his face, almost dares you to stare at it, so mysterious is it.

Localizado numa das ruas mais emblemáticas, mas não das principais artérias da cidade do Porto, mais precisamente na Rua do Bonjardim, encontra-se este mural batizado de "Bonjardim" tal como o nome da rua onde se localiza, que em Português quer literalmente dizer Bom Jardim.
Este mural idealizado e concretizado pelo artista português, Nuno Costa, aka Costah. É um artista de graffiti desde 1998 e desde 2007 que s iniciou na arte de tatuagem. Invariavelmente duas áreas que se conjugam muito frequentemente, pois bebem de uma fonte de inspiração comum, e de um gosto pelo desenho e por deixar uma marca, uma mais indelével que outra, sem sombra de dúvida.
O seu trabalho reflecte muito o seu gosto pelo tema de criação de ambientes quase ao estilo dos desenhos animados, ou cartoon. Rapazes e raparigas simples, com cores vibrantes e contrastes marcados fazem parte dos seus pontos mais fortes. É possível também ver alguns elementos naturais que por vezes são incluídos.
Nesta obra em particular, vemos que há quase como que uma personificação da rua, que neste caso é feita de osso e carne, e que transmite uma tranquilidade. Nela está também representada uma das casas, com uma rapariguinha desenhada bem ao estilo do que costumávamos fazer quando estávamos no ensino básico, não acham? Esta maneira de abordar a sua arte deixa quem passa pelo seu trabalho sempre cativado com a boa energia e alguma simplicidade que nos leva a sonhar com um futuro. Um futuro melhor e mais risonho, e cheio de vida!
Mesmo por cima do mural do artista, estava outra peça. Não consegui muito bem identificar o seu autor. Mas a sua beleza reside um pouco no mistério que a envolve. Não sei porquê, mas fez-me lembrar um pouco o "Santo Sudário" de Jesus Cristo, não sei se já ouviram falar deste artefacto antigo. Este elemento, enquadrado com uma moldura aparentemente metálica, e com o desenho de uma figura humana (?) com as mãos ao lado de sua cara, quase que nos desafia a ficar a olhar para ela, de tão misteriosa que o é.

The only advice that I can tell you about your possible visit to Porto, is to avoid the more "popular" anual periods. It could be a little bit crowded and disrupt, like in everywhere that happens, the true experience of the place.
