"25 de Abril" Garden, Belas, Portugal

Good afternoon, everyone!!

Welcome to another post in the WednesdayWalk community πŸŒ‰πŸŒ³

This weekend I was helping to organize a sporting event. The event took up the whole weekend, so I didn't have much time to walk around and socialize with my friends... Not even for the usual Sunday morning toast with a small group of good friends that many of you have heard of. Well, this little urban garden, called 25 de Abril (an important date in the history of my country's democracy, which we are about to celebrate 50 years ago tomorrow), ended up being on the way to one of my tasks. As I was in charge of buying the food and picking up the pizzas for Sunday lunch from a commercial establishment located close to the venue and in the historic part of the town, I ended up parking very close by. As the pizzeria didn't open until midday, and as I arrived earlier, I ended up strolling around this well-located garden in the center of the town.

What initially catches the eye about this green corner turns out to be its perfect fusion with the surrounding area. Set in a welcoming environment, which is the 5 de Outubro square, and with the surroundings of the Casa de SaΓΊde do Senhor da Serra, Junta da Freguesia de Belas, Centro Cultural de Belas, we ended up being invited into this garden renovated in 1998. Its large and medium-sized trees create an inviting shade under their wide branches.

Come with me, through my photos, to discover this piece of green rest in the center of the historic town of Belas, in Portugal.

Despite the number of parking spaces available, it's often not very easy to park on the first pass, but on the second lap you manage to find a spot... and in the shade!

The large eucalyptus tree provides an immense area of shade, although unfortunately it is
not one of the best species to plant in this area

Who wouldn't love these circular benches painted pink and surrounding a stone drinking fountain that invites passers-by to refresh themselves with some cool water?

Detail of the circular benches, with the tile inlays, alluding to the period of the discoveries, could it be?

A more Moorish motif, with a strong Arab inspiration. Portugal was briefly occupied by the Moors from 711 until 1492

I took the chance and sat down briefly in front of the pizzeria that hadn't yet opened

Right at the end of my walk, and at almost noon (the time when Telepizza opens), an excellent surprise appeared!
Can you spot it what it is?🐱

A little black furry one🐈! I love black cats! I think I've already shared this taste of mine with you here ;)

This one or that one, however, was very shy... and I couldn't get close enough to photograph him/her more closely

One last photo before I leave for my job...🌻

I hope you enjoyed this walk with me.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read and view my photos.

What a gorgeous walk!

Thank you for showing me a bit more of Portugal.

I can't wait to be able to get there one day!

Now I know I'll have to check out this area too!

If you consider one time to visit Portugal, please let me know it in advance, I can advise some great spots that aren't very well known :)

Oh wow absolutely thank you so much I will! πŸ˜ƒ

I know that there's a great music festival there too, so I'd like to time it with that.
