Taming progress (2024.05.09)

Now she mostly calmly stand on my arm. She still needs some time (probably a few more days) to be calm around me. To be completely calm, probably two or three months are needed (based on my experience with my previous Harris's hawk).

We will see.
I spend hours with her every day.

I gave her chicken breast, chicken liver and a mouse so far. The mouse was freshly took from the mouse trap yesterday (on 2024.05.08). She ate the chicken breast from my hand. She ate the chicken liver from my hand and from the ground. She ate the mouse from the ground. Shortly after I put it into her aviary.

Parent reared female Harris's hawk.
Hatched on 2023.06.28.
Age: 10 months old (as of 2024.05.09) (she will be 11 months old on 2024.05.28).
I bought her on 2024.04.30.

One of my friends is still making the anklets and the jesses.

Soon (probably in the next few days) I will write more updates about the taming progress.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Me too. Thank you. I went through a long ferry journey with her from Huelva (Andalusia, Spain) to Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain).

Based on your experience...you trust them more then you should!
Hopefully 3rd time is a charm...

Making tips based on personal experiences is better than making empty guesses based on nothing. Of course I know that every hawk has different personality. Just like the people. And hopefully this hawk is completely healthy, and does not have any hidden illness, like my previous Harris's hawk. Only time, care and love is needed.

Very cool! What was the previous illness with the last Harris Hawk?

The size of the heart of my previous Harris's hawk was different from the normal, but the veterinarian necropsy could not determine the reason of this. My previous Harris's hawk suddenly, unexpectedly died because of heart failure around the morning of 2023.03.20.
