My first two days in the semi-desert, near San Isidro (2023.04.23)

Rocks, rock and rocks.

And fruits and plants too.

Prickly pear. A fruit. Today I tried it for the first time. Its taste is similar to cherry and to sour cherry. At least for me.

An edible plant. I tried this also for the first time. I currently do not know its name, but it is good. It is salty. People say that it is full of water and minerals.

I started to help the cave living community with various things, including breaking branches, and putting them in boxes (one and almost a half box) to have fire wood for the cooker. I also watered five trees, and I helped with the compost too.

Today evening the dinner was letcho. It was a little bit spicy. It was delicious. I like the place. I like the people. The community is kind. I like the food too. My first impressions about Tenerife and about cave living is very good.

I will post more photos soon.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Are you staying in the desert? Is a community living in a cave?

In the semi-desert. There is a cave living community (multiple caves) on South Tenerife.

Yes. Trufamania writes that desert truffles grow on La Graciosa, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Gomera.

(Edited)

I consider myself an expert at spotting them :)

It's fun.

Edit: I recommend you buy a hat.
The sun is no joke.

The place looks very dry
Why did you go to visit there?
For fun?

We will see. Probably I will live in this place for long term. Yes. This (the southern) part of Tenerife is relatively dry. People say that the northern part is much greener. I have not seen that so far.

Interesting and exciting way to explore the region, cave living will be cool during hot daylight hours.

Nice to learn of you traveling to new places with a traditional food known in your region, perhaps not quite to spicy, spice is nice!

I tried only two local foods (a flower and a fruit) on Tenerife so far. I currently do not know the name of the flower. The fruit was a prickly pear. None of them were spicy. But I also love spicy food.
