I have a female Harris's hawk again (2024.05.06)

I went through a long journey in the previous week. Mostly this is why I have not wrote a blog post recently. I was also not in the mood to write a blog post. I travelled from Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) to Huelva (Andalusia, Spain) by ferry to receive this female Harris's hawk.

I bought the female Harris's hawk from Cádiz (Andalusia, Spain). The owner of the bird transported her to Huelva to me by car on 2024.04.30.

I transported her back to Tenerife with myself on ferry. I spent three nights around Huelva. I spent the first night (April 30) on a bench in an industrial place, near the ferry port of Huelva. I spent the second night on a bench in the ferry port. And I spent the last night in a heated yellow van of a Bulgarian man. He was very kind to let me in with the Harris's hawk in the transport box. I did not understand his name, and probably even if I would have understood, probably I would still be unable to write it down. The main thing is that he was kind to me. He even gave me a yellow blanket for the stay, so I had a comfortable stay in the night. He have a dog. We did not talked much. He watched some kind of martial arts related movie. Similarly to me, he also travelled on the ferry. He travelled to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the only stopover before Tenerife.

The ferry departed from Huelva on the evening of 2024.05.03, and I arrived back on Tenerife yesterday (on 2024.05.05).

One of my friends transported us (my female Harris's hawk and me) from Santa Cruz to the caves in South Tenerife, where nowadays I live in a cave/tent living community.

There is an anklet only on her one of her feet. I received her this way in Huelva. One of my friends are involved in leather decorations. Probably he can make anklets too. Currently he is not here. I already wrote to him on Facebook Messenger. Hopefully soon I can put an anklet to her other feet too.

Other than this anklet problem, everything is good. Of course I fed her multiple times during the travel. Even yesterday and today too. She have a good appetite. She is curious, and relatively calm. She screams at certain people, and mostly at dogs. She needs time. She will be more calm and more tame over time.

She spent a few hours on my arm today. Currently she is in her closed aviary, tied down.

Probably I will write updates and photos in the next few days.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.
