A delicious breakfast on a train with my brother, and a visit to our father (2022.12.18)

Today we ate in a dining car/restaurant car for the first time in our lives. This was not cheap (at least for us). The two dishes were 4400 Hungarian Forint (HUF), which is currently $11.50 USD, because $1 USD is currently 382.67 Hugarian Forint (HUF).

Actually this was a very expensive breakfast for us. Usually we do not spend this much amount even on a lunch, but we decided that we can afford it this time, because currently we are near Christmas, and we would like to spend quality time together.

Probably this is not considered as an expensive breakfast in most parts of Europe, but it is expensive for us. We can afford it only occasionally.

When we arrived at the house of our father, he offered us wafers, mulled wine, and soft drinks.

Shortly after we started speaking, he gave us a few tissues. He saw that I needed them. It is easy to get cold in the winter.

Later we started to browse old, childhood photos about us. I took photos about a few. This photo was taken on the fifth birthday of my brother (on 1999.03.19).

This photo is about me in the first class of the elementary school (1999-2000). I am the second from the left in the lower row (with the eye glasses).

Later our father gave us a lunch. Mashed potatoes with frikadeller. It was very delicious.

We still do not know whether he is our real father or our step father, but he acts very much like a real father. I feel like he is our real father. Maybe my brother feel the same. In addition to other things, we will discuss this too.

Before we left, I took a few photos about the garden. This is where we grew up.

The wood storage in the garden. Our father also heat the house with fire (wood). Just like in our childhood.

When we arrived home, the sun went down. The travel was around three hours to and from the house of our father. So it was around six hours in total.

I bought chicken wings for my Harris's hawk, before we went home.

Our father will spend the Christmas somewhere else (it is already arranged), so we will not spend the Christmas with him. Maybe we will spend the New Year's Eve with him. But currently that is not certain either.

I currently do not know where we will spend the Christmas. We will see.

The life in the 1990s was indeed much better from multiple aspects. We have many childhood photos. Probably I will upload more childhood photos in the future.

I visited him a few times in the previous few years. My brother visited him for the first time, after 23 years (we left him in/around 2000). We have a few childhood photos with him, but yesterday we have not took photos with him. Probably we will take a few photos with him next time.

Yes. We indeed look very happy on our childhood photos. A lot of time passed since then. As we browsed the photos, we have not even recognized ourselves on some of them.

That's great that you pampered yourselves with a breakfast in the train ! Life is about those moments that we take to enjoy its beauty and pleasure 😊It has not to mandatory be super expensive or fancy by all means, it just have to pleases you and make you feel special on a special moment... ❤️

and this was an event to visit your dad apparently, since long time you've not seen him....!
I suppose it's probably a strange thing to not know if a man is your dad or not...most important are the links and the feelings, I hope he will never hurt you anymore, and I wish he wouldn't let you and your brother without help in a cold winter...sorry but this is a mother's heart that speaks here 😉

Train journey out to your Dad looks a lovely way to travel, breakfast looks good, expensive yes I agree!
