Visitando la Casa San Isidro. Part I (eng-spa)

Saludos amigos hivers.
Greetings, fellow hivers!
It's a pleasure to share with you a bit of my experience with the students on a guided tour of the San Isidro House in Ciudad Bolívar. This is where Simón Bolívar, the Liberator, lived before the famous Congress of Angostura. It's steeped in history and has undergone many renovations so that future generations can learn about it. Sharing this experience with the second-year high school students is filled with moments and memories that leave a smile on your face and the feeling of having shared a part of history with the young people, thus fostering a love for Venezuelan history and tourism—a love for our heritage.

Upon entering, a guide organized us so that everyone could hear the stories and anecdotes. He led us on a tour, ensuring everyone was safe and carefully guided through the various sites showcasing culture, history, and relics. Above, my students are pictured, organized and listening to the guide during the tour. Below is a large rock with a couple of plaques providing information about the founding of an orphanage, one of the functions of Casa San Isidro.

Well, you can see swords from the colonial era, armchairs, and an old clock with a swing and bell. They might not be the originals from the 1800s, but the replicas are good and old. According to our guide, many of these objects were restored in the 1940s. The idea is to maintain the atmosphere of the period and allow visitors to be part of history.

And here are more details about the San Isidro House, the home of Simón Bolívar, the Liberator, in the 1800s, right here in this city. It's said that it was a large estate, and this was the house where the Liberator arrived and where he found inspiration for his Address to the Congress of Angostura. Despite the passage of time, the government has done its best to maintain the San Isidro House in optimal condition to preserve part of history and its significance for all Bolívar supporters and Venezuelans. The dining room tables and chairs look quite rudimentary, as does the terracotta floor, which is still preserved. The old thermometer or barometer from that era, I imagine, was quite a novelty back then. The corner table and the trunk also look old. If the wood is good and well cared for, everything will be preserved.
Thanks for visiting. The photos are my own, taken with my Redmi 9T smartphone in Venezuela. See you in the next post.
