The Orquideario de Soroa is a super impressive place, one of the best areas to visit in the West of Cuba, especially if you are a lover of flowers and nature. Located in the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, about 70 kilometres west of Havana, this botanical garden is one of the largest and most spectacular in the country.
In this Orchidarium, you can admire many different species of orchids, some of which are native to here. In addition, the garden has a wide variety of exotic and tropical plants that create a magical and colourful atmosphere.
In addition to enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds you, visitors can also participate in guided tours and workshops where they can learn more about the history and importance of orchids in the culture and economy of our country.

This place surrounded by lush nature is ideal for walking and enjoying beauty, on its trails, you can admire a wide variety of plants and flowers that make it a true botanical paradise. In addition, the natural landscape that surrounds you is simply impressive.

This is not only an impressive place for its collection of orchids and its natural beauty, but it is also a space where education and environmental awareness are promoted, highlighting the importance of bees in the ecosystem and the need for their protection.
Bee hives are another sample of the natural wealth that can be found in this place and an opportunity to learn about sustainable beekeeping and honey production.

It also has an experimentation and teacher training centre for forestry specialists. Administered by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, detailed studies of each specimen are carried out in order to accelerate its propagation and reintroduction into its natural environment, as well as crossings.
Thus, forestry specialists can acquire theoretical and practical knowledge about innovative techniques in the management of natural resources. This is fundamental for the protection of the country’s flora and fauna, and promotes education and environmental awareness in our society.

After so much walking we decided to take a moment to take some photos, some in a group. The beautiful plant walls and the views were simply beautiful, and we did not want to miss the opportunity to capture those moments to be able to remember them. It was really fun.

This orchidarium also has a space dedicated to the Virgen del Pilar, Patron Saint of Zaragoza and protector of sailors. This space is a place of devotion and spirituality for many people who visit the Orchidarium.
The image of the Virgen del Pilar is a replica of the original found in Spain. This was donated by the Spanish community residing in Cuba and is considered a symbol of devotion and faith in the Virgen del Pilar.
This space dedicated to the Virgen del Pilar is ideal for meditation and reflection and the encounter with the spiritual, respecting the cultural and religious diversity of those who visit it.

Walking along its trails is a beautiful fountain in the centre of a pond. This fountain is a work of art that complements the natural beauty of the place, and becomes a focal point for visitors who walk, creates a relaxing and harmonious atmosphere, ideal to enjoy the tranquillity.

After the long walk through the Orquideario, we arrive at the bar, an ideal place to rest and enjoy a wide variety of cocktails and fresh fruits. This bar is perfect for cooling off and recovering lost energy after walking all the trails.
At the bar, you can enjoy good cocktails prepared with tropical fruits, such as pineapple, mango, guava, among others. In addition, you can also taste natural juices and fresh fruit smoothies, ideal for moisturising.

For lovers of nature and botany, this unique Orchidarium in Cuba is a must visit. The orchids are the favourite flowers of my mother so that place looks like heaven for her 🥰 unfortunately we don't have anything similar over here so might never happen to see something like that 😊
I have never been able to leave my country, until now my way of travelling has been the photos and postcards that I see on the internet or that someone sends me, it is not the best in the world, but thanks to that I have been able to know incredible places, I hope that one day you can visit a place like this.
