PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape Photography | Round 23 | My City Ibiza | ESP / ENG
Hello @qurator and all photography lovers.
In this week's edition of the cityscape contest, I have decided to participate with an image of the city where I live.
This city is Ibiza, the capital of the island of the same name. Along with Formentera and the islets that surround us, they form the Archipelago of Las Pitiusas, which in turn forms part of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands, in the Spanish Mediterranean. The aspect that you see in the picture is the same that could be seen since the 19th century and due to its good state of conservation it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998. In the middle of the 20th century the island began to be known by the first tourists, who could almost be considered adventurers since there was no tourist structure, there was no airport and everything and everyone had to arrive by sea, which made the trip something almost magical. Then Eivissa, as it is called in the local language, was discovered by the hippie movement as an obligatory stop on their pilgrimage to India, from there came the whirlwind of mass tourism brought by tour operators and although we have maintained a certain level of bohemia and authenticity, today we are known mainly for the nightlife and partying, things which of course are only part of what Ibiza is really about and which we locals don't really agree with. But that's for another debate.
Here is the old town, called in Ibicenco Dalt Vila (upper town), in a twilight shot with the harbour in the foreground.
