It is a lovely small city in Bicol region, good schools and plenty of churches, it's urbanized with friendly people and famous for penafrancia festival, very religious and. mainly Catholic. You'll see lots of nuns and priests even in the pubs, haha!, good pubs with dancing troops and bands. Very entertaining and good night life as vendors up all night if you fancy snacks etc.
Stayed most of my life there as a student and with my first job. We call it Heart of Bicol" and one of the oldest Spanish colonial cities.
Sounds like Latin America in Asia, lol. It would be great to explore the Philippines one day. The archipelago looks like a map from fantasy fiction, its alone makes the country super appealing (along with diverse culture and nature, and history, including all those early colonial time gems).
Yes, strongly influenced by Spain, I have no doubt you will reach that place one day, haha! It is warm and humid, though, but a perfect place for plants and trees. Lots of beaches, hot springs, falls, islands, etc. They kept historical buildings and churches, and schools in Naga. I enjoy revisiting them and appreciate them more now. 😊
