The Sunsets on My Backyard

Greetings Hivers, I am Iris from East Java, Indonesia. This is my first time posting here, so I am not sure if my photos actually qualified. I just love taking random shoot with my phones. However, recently our weather is so moody and unpredictable. We got rain almost every afternoon and I just missed seeing sunset so badly.

Currently I lived in Malang, but I had a small apartment in the middle of Surabaya, the capital city of East Java. It is located in the middle of the city, so I got a city view with the main harbor on the far east edge facing the Java Sea. When the sky was clear enough, you can see the silhouette of our famous Suramadu bridge as well. Most of the time, the landscape is just common city scape, with sadly polluted sky that blurred everything.

But sometimes, I got lucky and had chances to witness breathtaking sunset glow of my city. I was always amazed by the blends of colors, the pretty shade of red, orange, purple, mauve, indigo and many more. It is as if the sky is burning with citylight slowly turned on one by one.

It's pretty rare to get the clear sky without any clouds, but when it happened, the view was amazing. But the cloudy twilight also got its own perks, like one evening when the strom was brewing in the atmosphere but the last ray of sun still stubbornly painted the crimson sky.

The sunset view from my tiny veranda is one of the most favorite part of the day. I used to spend hours there just to watch it until the sky was completely dark. It is the perfect time to wind down and let my mind wander. Sometimes, the sun was visible, quietly hanging in the background like a tiny shimering ball in the middle of the ocean of colors. It was amazing how nature always give us the best moment in the midst of our busy day.

Yeah, I just missed my home sweet home since my work circumstances made me stay at my current city right now. It's really true that there is no place that give the most comfort than our true home, even though it was only one little bedroom and a tinier living area. My most favorite is the purple sunset that I witnessed once. It was as if the sky turned into a lavender field in the distance.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing my longing in this weird season. I love rain by the way, it has its own charm. But really, I am so ready for the dry season and its eerie sky right now. See you around!
