Between Petals and Pine Cones: Fine afternoon at a forest-like garden | Wednesday Walk
The soft breeze brought faint smell of fir trees. The grass was a bit damp from last drizzle and filled with dried pine cones and needle leaves. Here's the place I could breathe in the midst of bustling city life. Greetings Hiver, it's me Iris from East Java, Indonesia. Today I take you to the my favorite park, hidden neat garden with pathways that giving the soul of forest.
It was a fine afternoon and I didn't have much to do, so I could went home early today. I took my little boy for a short walk to a garden or park nearby for a lovely stroll. It was build on a slope that filled with soft fat grasses. My son like to visit there because he could running down the sloped pathways and playing at the playground.
The garden was planted with vibrant flowery bushes so it was very lovely. We enjoyed the fresh breeze and clear air. We had a little drizzle at noon so the air was cool and refreshing. I love to take him got closer with nature so he can feel the texture of leaves, pick flowers, and walk barefoot on the soft grasses.
I really like how they keep the big trees along the pathway. Due to my busy schedule, I couldn't escape the city as often as I want and being here made me feels like in the middle of a little forest. But, the pathway was already made, so it is pretty safe for kids to walk or run around.
The main feature is the rare Sausage Tree (Kigelia africana) which is planted in the heart of the park. This tree is a native of Africa I suppose and has fruits looked like sausages hanging, hence the name. My son like it very much and today we only had some big ones left. Previously they were smaller but quite a lot, so I can explain to him the circle of tree life today.
The neighborhood also has another parks with playground and it was our next destination. To reach the park we have to go down and cross a nice vintage looking bridge, and then climb up again passing a new plot of land that was on sale. We got some lovely view of sun rays peeking under the cloudy sky and touch the leaves gently.
It was really nice plot of land, located in a little hills overlooking the city. The area was filled with colorful flowery bushes again. I always secretly hope that someday we can live here. It was an elite neighborhood, so it was too pricey for us now, but nobody knows, right?
My son love playing there so much and I love it because it was filled with trees and located in a suburban, so the air was very nice. Also the up and down tracks helped me to release my boy big energy. He is a very active kid who always need to move. Also, it helped me introduce so many trees and flowers to him so hopefully he will love being in the nature like me. But of course, the favorite part was the slides and monkey bar for him right now.
We would like to spend more time playing but the rain started to fall and it's near his dinner time as well, so we hurriedly went home. But it was a really nice walk, something that pretty rare for us, unless I didn't have to come to work.
