Monomad - Valencian market
Hello to all Hive friends, who are after some great black and whites. Today I am presenting to you my trip to the Valencian market aka Marcado. The Valencian market is a vibrant and essential component of Valencia's cultural and economic landscape. Located in the heart of the city, these markets offer a sensory feast for both locals and visitors alike. From the colorful array of fresh produce to the lively banter of vendors, the market provides a snapshot of Valencian life.
One of the most iconic markets in Valencia is the Mercado Central, which dates back to the early 20th century. With its stunning modernist architecture and bustling atmosphere, it serves as a hub for gastronomic delights. Inside, you'll find a kaleidoscope of stalls brimming with fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and seafood, all sourced from local farms and fisheries.
The aroma of freshly baked bread and aromatic spices fills the air, tempting passersby to indulge in the culinary delights on offer. I was surprised by all the nuts there are on offer. Sometimes it is easy to forget how close Europe actually is to Africa. And nuts are a great example of this rich mix of cultures.
When it comes to meat, Valencians are taking it very seriously. Amazing cuts curing right there at the market. My mouth were full of salvia only by looking at them. Great display, amazing offers, and delicious cuts.
Moreover, the market serves as a meeting place where locals gather to socialize, exchange gossip, and catch up on the latest news. It's not uncommon to see friends sharing a glass of wine at one of the market's tapas bars or families enjoying a leisurely Sunday brunch.
Of course, there are products from all over the world.
Overall, the Valencian market is a dynamic and evolving institution that continues to play a vital role in the fabric of Valencia's community. Whether you're a food enthusiast, a culture buff, or simply looking to immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of the city, a visit to the market is an essential experience not to be missed. If you have a chance, I warmly recommend you to visit Central Market and indulge in products and amazing dishes.
Stay blessed
