#SpringInJapan: The Early Bloomers In Yoyogi Park

avatar
(Edited)

a heart!

look at the other buds

it is so pink, right?!

they seem so fragile that if you touch them they'll fall

Last Saturday, before meeting with my friends, I went to Yoyogi Park. Actually, my initial plan was to go to another park to see the Plum Festival but I'll be meeting my friends at 4 PM, and time check: it's 3 PM. 😅

I'll be so late if I pushed through my initial plan so I went to Yoyogi Park instead, which is just less than 30 mins train ride from where I live. I got off at Harajuku station and aarrgh, I totally forgot this place is always crowded especially on weekends. I arrived around 3:30 PM and immediately went past the crowd to get to the park.

It's not yet officially Spring in Japan but these cherry blossoms are already blooming. Why? This kind of cherry blossom is the first to bloom. They're called 河津さくら (read as kawazu sakura).

It's funny because all over the park are just dead trees or large ones with only brown and green colors but in this area, it's so pink.

they look like they're falling from the sky

If you aren't sure where to go since the park is so wide, try to look for the fountain in the middle of a pond-like area.

Although there were many people near the station, there wasn't that a lot in the park, especially in this area where the cherry blossoms were. There were more foreigners than Japanese though. Probably they're tired of looking at cherry blossoms or they didn't know it's in full bloom here in this place.

I didn't regret coming here to see the cherry blossoms. Now I'm not sure when to see the Plum Festival because maybe they're past their full bloom this weekend. But anyways, I got to enjoy a quick fix of seeing flowers.

The cherry tree

And because I was enjoying taking photos and looking at the pink flowers, I was so fashionably late in meeting my friends. 😅

Thanks for reading!
See you around! じゃあ、またね!

Yeah, kawazuzakura always bloom early, sometimes they even beat the plum blossoms. Sometimes I actually prefer this type, just because it's so busy when the someiyoshino bloom. I feel a little more relaxed watching the kawazu blossoms.

Anyway, wonderful photos!!

I think it’s my first time to really enjoy the kawazu. And true, only few people were there! It’s kinda hard to enjoy the someiyoshino because of the crowd, esp if everybody is in one place. I tend to go where there are only few people.

Thanks!!

That’s an excellent idea 💡
It’s true, spring comes after winter means there’s brighter days ahead after the cold and gloomy days.

Wow - its lovely to see those in bloom already - they look stunning. We were talking about that here last weekend, its probably another 2-3 weeks before they start to come out here, and we are looking forward to seeing them already ! but I'd love to see them in Japan, I understand they have some pretty awesome displays of them around.

These types are the first to bloom. There's more late March~early April.
I guess because when you say cherry blossoms, you'll always think of Japan. 😅
Would love to see how it is there too!

Wow! I love to see cherry blossoms personally😊. They are so attractive and very much colorful in pictures how much more if you can hold and touch them how lovely that feeling would be. Hopefully I can visit this place too.. Thanks miss witty for sharing these lovely photos.

I don't see people touching them, I think because they'll be gone after a week so they tend to be mindful of it and to others too who will enjoy its beauty. But yes, they're so attractive.

Thank you! It was kinda hard to capture because of the gloomy weather and the people surrounding it but luckily, it wasn't that crowded.
