Urban sunrise- Qurator's Photo Quest Competition entry

Hello again, dear Hive photography community!

This post is my submission for the #Qurator’s Photo Quest – Sunrise, a theme that never fails to inspire awe. I must admit—sunrises don’t come easily to me. As someone who’s more of a night owl than an early bird, catching those quiet moments when the world slowly wakes is a rare experience. But over time, I’ve managed to capture a few precious glimpses of this daily miracle.

The photo I’ve chosen for this entry is the last image in a sequence of seven, all taken within an intense 11-minute window. The transformation of light during sunrise is fast and dramatic, and being there to witness it feels like watching the sky paint its own masterpiece in real time.

I began this little photographic journey on the ground, facing the southeast, where the first hints of light crept into the clouds. But I soon moved up to the roof of my workplace, hoping for a better vantage point as the sky evolved. It was absolutely worth it.

What struck me most was how quickly and beautifully the colors shifted. In the southeast, clouds turned from deep purple to fiery orange, illuminating the skyline like a silent explosion of warmth.

Meanwhile, in the northeast, the sky still held onto its dusky violet tones, creating a stunning contrast that only lasted a few fleeting moments.

These quiet transitions are easy to miss in our busy lives—but through photography, we get to hold onto them just a little longer.
