Birthday Breakthrough

An important lesson I’ve come to learn in life is to live it.
Even the Bible encourages us to live life while we’re young but be extremely careful of our decisions while doing so.

A few years ago, I was living life carefully and according to society or so I thought.
I had no intent of hustling on my own, I relied on family to survive and I thought the final goal was to finish school, get a nice job and join the rat race.
How wrong was I.
I never wanted to explore life, I was too afraid to take a leap outside my comfort zone.
I hardly made friends because I feared betrayal or enter into relationships because I feared heartbreak or treat myself to things I like because I feared being penniless.
Also never celebrated my birthday because I felt it was unnecessary and since I had no much friends or money, why even bother.
Again, how wrong was I.

Well not to turn this to a boring story of my life fest but the point is life is way too short to not live on the edge.
I hardly pay attention to motivational speeches but one that will forever stick with me is this one:

The biggest risk is not taking any risk - Mark Zuckerberg.

Last year I had a breakthrough also the same year I came across this quote and live by it. Ever since, my life did a complete 360.
I was going through my “forex phase” at the moment and each time I would want to skip a trade, I’ll remember this quote and take the risk. I mean I lost a lot of money but at least I’m at peace with knowing I took the risk and I experienced the outcome. If I hadn’t I would forever be tormented by what would’ve been if I hadn’t done that trade. Same thing goes for friendships and relationships.

Moving forward, it’s the month of August, Leo or Virgo season whichever deem you fit to identify it as either way it’s my birth month.
I was born on the 23rd of August just a day after my Prince Charming Instagram crush was born but that’s aside the point, or is it?
Anyway, by this time last year I already had plans for my birthday celebration and on the official day it was a blast.
I had a Photoshoot, got free event center and planner plus a free Hotel suite! It’s a day I will never forget.

This year, I am yet to come up with a proper plan but whatever it may be, I’m certain it’ll include something really subtle.
I believe that for most females at a certain point in their life, they embrace a more matured and modest era and I think it’s my turn due to a significant change in my wardrobe and overall character. Which is partly why I’ll prefer to tone it down a bit, that is regarding my birthday plans.
I’ll be sure to gist you all about it but for now I’m just so happy for how far I’ve come.

If I’m to count my blessings and growth, it’ll be:
Having more than two side hustles, having a few real friends, been in relationships, learned and still learning more skills, saving more, treating myself etc. in essence I’m taking risks and also living life while still being careful of my decisions.

Finally, I’m leaving my teen years and entering a completely new chapter, I don’t know how it’s going to be on that side neither do I know what to expect or maybe I’m being a tad dramatic but either way cheers to taking more risks.
It’s officially my “new year new me” mood in a bit and to my fellow August born, happy birthday in advance/arrears!
