In portraits, black and white

It had been a while since I'd photographed my pets, or rather, part of my large family of cats and dogs. But here we are with this series of black and white photographs of two of my cats: the larger one, Dio, and the smaller one, Sasuke, along with my dog, Mia. I focused on the contrast of the black and white, as well as the use of light on specific points of the scene where it was better illuminated, so to speak.

I took advantage of this during an evening when there was little natural light due to the building's position. The window is angled in a way that doesn't allow for the direct sunlight I would have liked, but as I said, a little light is enough to find a way to compose with what little there is. Besides, it was perfect for what I wanted to achieve at that moment.

It's not just the portraits of the animals themselves that are so appealing; it's the texture of their fur, the shape of their faces—it's part of the harmony that can be created and captured. I can also see how time has passed; Sasuke has grown a lot since the last time I photographed him, and Dio and Mia, who are about four years his age, are showing signs of maturity, of being more grown-up.
All photographs are my own work.

These photos are amazing! The photo of the first cat is phenomenal!
