Facades in essence - Monomad Challenge
For this occasion, I bring you this series of photos where we can appreciate the presence, mostly, of facades of very old houses or buildings. Over time, they have fallen into decay, but they still stand strong today, as if trying to continue telling a story of a past that still endures. Who can imagine what these facades were like 50 years ago, or even more than 100 years ago, when everything, of course, was different?
Therefore, the black and white for this occasion is commendable because, in a way, it gives more strength to these images, which have their own magic, their own beauty despite the deterioration of some of these facades. Although not all of them are like this, some remain intact and have been properly cared for, perhaps because they are inhabited by people who take care of them and have a sense of belonging, knowing how important many of these buildings are to this part of the city.
It's certainly always been interesting to see these types of buildings. It's a testament to our past and how time passes, how it evolves, and how everything can even remain the same for decades, as if time had stopped. It would be interesting to hear from someone who was here 50 years ago and how they perceive it now. I imagine it's a mixture of sensations and mixed feelings about this place.
All photographs are my own.
