Eternal spaces
Sometimes I imagine what many of these places I visit and frequently photograph might have been like hundreds or even thousands of years ago, because much of this land's composition dates back thousands of years. Although, of course, the flora changes every year, many of these landscapes have been preserved for more than 200 years. Trees have been there for many generations and have witnessed the constant changes in their environment, such as the development of the city of Puerto Ordaz, which barely survives more than 70 years as a city. Before, it was practically all jungle.
However, it has been shown that some indigenous tribes have coexisted in these places, since the river is very favorable for any population, due to the abundant plant and animal life, enough for these populations to live comfortably. Although I don't know how they disappeared or how long ago they did so, there are certain features they left behind in some of these natural parks that I always visit, such as some hieroglyphics, which I have not yet been able to reach because I don't really know the path that leads to that place.
However, both in Cachamay and Leofling parks, where I took the photos for these images I'm showing, I always discover new paths or interesting spots to better connect with nature, as well as to enjoy excellent views of the mighty rivers. The Caroní River practically embraces all of these parks with the full power of its eternal waters, which flow 24 hours a day. At least that's what we know, because as far as I know, these rivers have never dried up. Perhaps they've had lower water levels due to certain droughts, but it's never been this severe. Also, due to the course of the city's dams, stagnant water is always monitored, and when there's a lot of water, the spillway gates are usually opened. In short, all of this is part of this universe that has endured for many years and perhaps will continue to do so for much longer.
All photographs are my own.
