For those who ever visit Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, don't miss the opportunity to visit this spot, well known by its residents as the Angostura Viewpoint. It's a meeting point for all residents, and where we can all appreciate the sheer size of the Angostura Bridge and contemplate the beautiful waters of the Orinoco River, which separates two towns across the state. The town of Soledad, which lies across the river, and of course, Ciudad Bolívar, on this side, is a must-see.

The Angostura Viewpoint, as we can see, is a large expanse that practically encompasses much of the banks of the Orinoco River. Its location is very close to the city's historic center, the city center, and other important points within easy reach. Therefore, to reach this place, you can take a bus, as in my case, which took approximately 15 minutes from the city entrance.

As you can see in some photos, you can see a large stone practically in the middle of the river between the two towns. Many have had the legend that there is a large snake living inside that stone. Even many decades ago, there were news reports in the newspapers about people who were able to witness this large snake, but in reality, nothing has been official, and it is part of the myth held by all the residents of this area. What is true in the history of this city is that centuries before, the geographer Alexander von Humboldt visited this city, making several trips throughout the state, even going so far as to use that same stone we see in the river as a natural river gauge, since at certain times the river rises depending on the season.

On the other hand, as I always say when I am in these places, they are usually very hot areas, even more so being near the river, which generates humidity, but that is not an obstacle to exploring and getting to know this city. Although I have never been able to be there at dusk, when the sunset is located right over the Angostura Bridge, it would be a perfect setting for photography. I hope you can plan a time soon to witness the spectacle of the sunset, where many tourists and locals enjoy the pleasant evenings that beautify this wonderful city, steeped in history, culture, and magnificent architecture dating back many centuries. Therefore, if you come to Ciudad Bolívar, you must visit the Angostura viewpoint, and if possible, come during the evening hours so you can appreciate the wonderful sunset that glides across the Angostura Bridge, reflecting on the majestic Orinoco River.

This post about this wonderful site concludes for today, and I hope to continue showing other corners of Ciudad Bolívar soon, revealing a little more of this city's history and culture.

All photographs are my own.
