First day of vacation. Ruins of Falkenštejn Castle. | Dovolená den prvni. Zřícenina hradu Falkenštejn.
Hello.
Today we arrived in Jetřichovice, our vacation destination and the main tourist center of Bohemian Switzerland.
Ahoj.
Dneska jsme přijeli na místo naší dovolené do Jetřichovic. Jetřichovice jsou turistickým centrem Českého Švýcarska.
After checking into the Bellevue Hotel, we set out to explore the surroundings and visit the ruins of Falkenštejn Castle.

From the hotel, we walked through the village of Jetřichovice and followed the yellow tourist trail leading to the ruins.
The site is about 1.2 km from the hotel, with the path climbing steadily uphill. At first, the route includes stone steps, and near the end, these turn into iron stairs.
Falkenštejn was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Today, only a carved chamber and a chapel remain, while the rest of the castle has disappeared. Access is gained by steep iron stairs squeezed between the rocks.
At the top, a metal platform both protects the rock and allows visitors to walk along its summit. From there, several paths lead to viewpoints overlooking the surrounding landscape.
On our way back to the hotel, we took a detour through the forest, past many rock formations and areas damaged by bark beetles.
Zpátky do hotelu jsme to vzali oklikou, cesta nás vedla kolem mnoha skalních útvarů, lesem i územím poničeném kůrovcem.
The first day went well, let's see how the next few days turn out.

The whole of Czechia Saxon Switzerland is beautiful
That looks like such a cool adventure! The iron stairs squeezed between the rocks sound kinda scary but exciting at the same time 😅 Did it feel like climbing into a secret place
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised too. The iron staircases and platforms at the top look interesting.
The way you describe Falkenštejn Castle makes me want to lace up my hiking shoes right now. Such a beautiful mix of history and scenery!
The area is characterized by sandstone rocks. I wonder what else awaits us and what we will see.
I like the road through the middle of the mountains the most. I want to go and explore that place too.
