Waterfront walkway Orla Prefeito Luiz Paulo Conde - Rio de Janeiro [EN/PT]

In my last trip to Rio de Janeiro we passed through the waterfront walkway that links Mauá square (where the impressive Museum of Tomorrow is located) to XV de Novembro square (another touristic point in city's downtown) or vice-versa.

Na minha última viagem ao Rio de Janeiro, passamos pelo calçadão que liga a Praça Mauá (onde fica o impressionante Museu do Amanhã) à Praça XV de Novembro (outro ponto turístico no centro da cidade), ou vice-versa.

On the other side we have a view of the small island occupied by Brazilian Navy headquarters and its classic architecture style buildings aside modern shipyards. In the middle of the walkway we can see a caravel replica (maybe the one that made the trip departing from Lisbon in the year 2000 commemorating the 500 years of the first Portuguese landing).

Do outro lado, temos vista para a pequena ilha ocupada pelo quartel-general da Marinha do Brasil e seus edifícios de arquitetura clássica, junto de modernos estaleiros. No meio do caminho pela orla, podemos ver uma réplica de uma caravela (talvez a mesma que fez a viagem partindo de Lisboa no ano 2000, para comemorar os 500 anos da primeira chegada dos portugueses).

The other interesting view is the Candelária church (Igreja Nossa Senhora da Candelária - https://www.candelariario.org.br), despite being funded in the XVII century it's linked with human rights movements since the 60's/70's military dictatorship (background of the movie I mentioned in I watch The Secret Agent at Cine Sesc) untill now.

Outro ponto de interesse é a Igreja Nossa Senhora da Candelária (https://www.candelariario.org.br), que, apesar de ter sido fundada no século XVII, está ligada aos movimentos de direitos humanos desde a ditadura militar dos anos 60/70 (contexto do filme que mencionei em Assisti a O Agente Secreto no Cine Sesc) até os dias atuais.

At the end (or the beginning) of the waterfront walkway there is Praça XV (15 de Novembro square) with many historical buildings and its colonial architecture. One interesting monument is Chafariz do Mestre Valentim (Master Valentim Fountain) built in 1789 to supply fresh water to population and sea port workers.

No final do caminho da orla (ou no começo), encontra-se a Praça XV (ou Praça 15 de Novembro), com seus muitos edifícios históricos e arquitetura colonial. Um monumento interessante é o Chafariz do Mestre Valentim, construído em 1789 para abastecer a população e os trabalhadores do porto com água doce.
