Happy 2026! The Year of the Horse in the lunar horoscope | Feliz 2026! O ano do cavalo no horóscopo lunar [EN/PT]

Happy 2026! This year will be the Year of the Horse in the lunar or Chinese horoscope. I know the Lunar New Year only starts in February, but it's already worth remembering this animal, which is quite important to human civilization. Despite being beautiful and symbolizing vigor, speed, and strength, I confess I've never been attracted to horses. I remember when I was little people tried to get me to ride one, but what stuck in my memory was the fear of getting ticks and the smell, which I found rather unpleasant.

I don't know if this lack of attraction has anything to do with my lunar zodiac sign, which I mentioned here in the posts Vibecoding in the Year of the Snake 2.0. Anyway, I did some research through my old photos and found this picture I took when I traveled to Cunha, a city in the interior of São Paulo state, from where it's possible to reach the historic city of Paraty in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The place is still proud of its rural roots; I imagine it was a route for the muleteers who connected the cities of the gold rush era in Minas Gerais, of which Paraty was one of the ports of access and connection between colonial Brazil and Portugal. But going back to the horse and the Chinese horoscope, I haven't read anything about the predictions for the year yet; I think it's best not to take anything too seriously, like the advice from the I Ching: The Book of Changes. It wasn't included in the list African Proverbs from the book A Color Defect, but this teaching from that other ancestral continent is worth more: "do pray, but keep working".

Following what I commented in Chinese Ideograms are also drawings for me, I find the horse character - 馬 - one of the most beautiful, and it even slightly resembles the animal galloping. Incidentally, the pose of the horses in the photo I'm sharing now is also intriguing; perhaps it can be also interpreted as a Chinese character or a hexagram from the I Ching.

Feliz 2026! Este ano será o ano do cavalo no horóscopo lunar ou chinês. Sei que o ano novo lunar só vai começar em fevereiro mas vale já lembrar deste animal bastante importante pra civilização humana. Apesar de bonito e simbolizar vigor, rapidez e força, confesso que nunca fui atraído por cavalos. Lembro que quando pequeno tentaram me fazer montar em um, mas o que ficou na memória foi o medo de pegar carrapato e o cheirinho que achei meio desagradável.

Não sei se essa falta de atração tem a ver com o meu signo, que comentei aqui nos posts Vibecoding no Ano da Serpente 2.0. De qq forma, fiz uma pesquisa nas minhas fotos antigas e encontrei esta imagem que tirei qdo viajei pra Cunha, cidade do interior de SP, de onde é possível chegar na cidade histórica de Parati no estado do Rio de Janeiro.

O local ainda tem orgulho de suas raízes caipiras, imagino que era caminho dos tropeiros que ligavam as cidades do ciclo do ouro em Minas Gerais, da qual Parati era um dos portos de acesso e ligação do Brasil colônia com Portugal. Mas voltando ao cavalo e o horóscopo chinês, ainda não li nada sobre os prognósticos para o ano, acho melhor não levar nada muito a sério, como os conselhos do I Ching: O livro das mutações. Não foi incluido na lista Provérbios africanos do livro Um Defeito de Cor porém vale mais este ensinamento daquele outro continente ancestral: "reze, mas continue trabalhando".

E seguindo o que comentei em Ideogramas chineses tb são desenhos pra mim, acho a caracter do cavalo - 馬 - um dos mais bonitos, e até lembra o pouco o animal galopando. Aliás, a pose dos cavalos da foto que compartilho agora tb é intrigante, quem sabe tb pode ser lida como uma letra chinesa ou um hexagram do I Ching.
