Yellow-vented Bulbul: My New Backyard Friend 🪶

A lot of animals visit our backyard every day. Some days you will see colorful butterflies, busy bees, and other little insects. Some days, heavy goats and cows march their way through the green bushes. But the visitors I love the most are the birds. Their beautiful songs echo through our big avocado and mango trees.
Today, I want to share some photos of my new special backyard friend, the Yellow-vented Bulbul 🪶
Meet my new feathered friend 😊

The Yellow-vented bulbul is a very pretty bird. It has a light gray and white belly, a dark back, and a cool black stripe over its eyes that looks like sunglasses. But the best part? It has a bright, sunny yellow patch right under its tail.

On this sunny day, these birds were full of energy. They played a game of tag, jumping energetically from one branch to another.
I grabbed my camera and watched them closely. One of the bulbuls landed on our thick manunggal (bitter wood) vine. Suddenly, it shook its tail feathers. Click 📸 I snapped a picture at the perfect time. In the photo, its tail opened wide and looked just like a fan. I was so happy, and I jumped because I caught it on camera.

Another bulbul hopped right to the very tip of a branch. It stood high up in the green leaves, flapped its wings, and opened its beak wide. It looked like it was laughing or singing a happy song. It was truly enjoying the warm beam of the sun ☀️

Our backyard is always full of surprises, but watching these cheerful birds always makes my day. Keep your eyes on the trees, you never know who might stop by 🥰
